Just think how much it's gonna cost the next owner of that Judge to make the car right again.

The next owner may put a cage in it, tub it and install a 572 chevy motor but not by me.

I think that Judge looks great. I understand its a rare car and many hate to see these with anything other than off the showroom floor looks, but to me it looks tastefully done and very clean. I've seen the "correct" car at every car show I've ever been to, I think its cool to see them with some tasteful modern additions for a change. As has been said, anything can be undone. It's his car and who is to say there will ever be a next owner that has to "fix" it?

+2. If everyone left there cars stock there would be a bunch of slow ill handleing "muscle cars" that get there buts kicked by new cars. On the flip side I'm glad some of you like the original stuff to preserve history. The GTO looks good, but I'm not in love with the rims.

What's the thought process behind the 69 stripes?

I am going to paint a couple old rally wheels, bolt them on there and show it to my buddy, because I don't like the wheels either. Calvin has owned almost every kind of car but he likes this one best and he's 72 years old now and will probably keep this one.

Meh, 14" and 15" Rally wheels makes it look 'Done to death' stock again but to each his own. I like the large wheel look. Particular wheels are a personal style of course. Show him some of the Year One 17" rallys at least.

Again, to each his own. I just don't think these cars need to ALL stay a picture of the past. And I might not have picked those particular wheels but the size looks great to me.

17" Tires and 18" tires are good selections in today's world.

Not as many 17" as 18" out there unfortunately.

I have some 16" TA "White Anniversary" wheels Slotted wheels and good tires are expensive for this diameter.

So I would agree on the 17" stuff due to the car already being modded somewhat.

Nothing wrong with a Traditional 70 RA Judge Vert Look with some MINOR modern touches. The 2014-15 Mustang Look is too far out in my opinion on a 70 Judge.

Also available in '70 as a sport stripe...I had one painted on my car, though in this case, Judge stripes would be more appropriate since it actually has the pedigree.

I think this car needs a set of 18" US Mags Bandits on it. Would be way better than what is currently on it.

I like subtle customization, but this is too much. I too hate body colored firewalls.

I like the opinions good and bad because little changes on a car like this really makes or breaks it. 17" rallyes would look good too. I'm doing this work on Calvins car as a friend and not a paying customer. I don't even work on cars as a profession as I have a custom metal fab shop, but he also want me to rebuild the 428 that was in it, decisions, decisions. He told me he called Sonny Leonard to rebuild this 428 and Sonny said that this engine is a J code, which is a rare engine (standard D-port heads) and he could make 600 streetable hp with it. I call BS. I feel as though they are trying to screw Calvin over. I know Sonny Leonard has a good reputation with a chevy motor, but , I never heard of a Sonny traditional Pontiac motor.

So, it was a Ford 428?

Who goes to Sonny Leonard to get a Pontiac built? Sonny builds $100,000 mountain engines.

Ford "J" code was a 4v 302 in '68 and '69, a 429 cobra jet in '70 and '71. (Not sure of other years.)

Pontiac had the WJ 428 in '67, '68, and '69, and the XJ 428 in '69.

In '67 and '68 the WJ code was an HO/police motor with hd valve springs and "special" exhaust manifolds.

Whenever I hear someone mentioning a J-code, they're usually talking Ford. I was thinking the '71 429 when I was typing. Never heard someone talking a J-code Pontiac. Think more tongue-in-cheek response.

Yah, I thought of the '68 Ford 302.

Exactly. The engine is the star of the engine bay, and all of that flash detracts from it. I am not a concours resto dude either, but a little subtlety can go a long ways. The lowrider and 90's pro street guys are gonna be calling, wanting their engine bay back...

But I love the car. I don't have a big problem with the wheels either. Definitely a more contemporary look. If I owned a real judge, tho, it would be shod in something more classic. Way nicer than anything in my garage (well, backyard, actually...)/
