We had a 2006(bought brand new) which I believe had the foreign transmission that has since been replaced. We gave the car to the neighbor a couple months ago when we replaced it with a 2015 Camaro. I like the fusion as a whole but it did like to use oil and the transmission was a complete turd. Not a bad car for the money. I have a couple friends with the newer style and one had some electrical gremlins and the other hasn't had any issues so I think it's luck of the draw.

Please don't try to compare an almost 9yr. old car to a modern one.

The older fusion was a good car and they have made improvements to it. His new fusion will be 9 years old at some point and that's when things start breaking. Nearly all brand new cars a trouble free for the first 4 plus years of service. My advice, from my experience is change the oil often, 5K miles max and also change the trans fluid and filter every 35k. Also the car started going through tires after 80k so that probably would have been a good time to do struts and tie rods. Keep up with the maintenance and you should be able to get 10 years out of it.

BTT - New Fusions.
Our 2015 came with Goodyear"Eagle" LS2 tires, which have a short sidewall and are somewhat of a performance semi-soft compound compromise tire. I noted the shallow tread depth on the brand new Goodyear LS2s. ![]() Already talked with our fave tire vendors as to replacement when time comes - which will be Michelin, Pirelli, etc. that will be more of a M & S "Touring" type tread for channeling water away reducing hydroplaning during those frequent 3 to 4 inch rain per hour we often get w our Texas floods. I brought up the topic with tire vendor while one of other vehicles was in for tire service. IIRC - you're in NH, so your traction requirements would be completely different than ours here in Houston, especially this time of year. Yes? What suspension / tires did your 2014 come with? |

My dad of just shy of 91 yrs. had a 2014. Wasn't suppose to drive but did a few times till we took his car away. Was his pet peive to get drivers licsence back and we tryied. When he passed put a pic of car in casket and drove it behind hearst to National Cemetary. It would get better than the claimed 39 mpg.

For those interested in Fusions, here's one you unfortunately won't see sitting on the lot of a Ford dealer in the US of A...
Neat car.

Well, we miss our 96 Tarus wagon Alvin. These new so called wagons of today are crap. The 2002 Focus wagon we had could carry quite a bit too. We can't haul around half of what we use to with the 2014 Focus hatchback we now have. I always said I'd never have a wagon, but since I've had 2 of them I sure miss em.
Keith, now that's a wagon I'd love to have. Where did you find it?
