And remember...You have people skills! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RAY27NU1Jog I was sent to a "corporate president's manufacturing summit" because the president couldn't make it. Nice conference room overlooking the Chicago skyline and river with speeches by prominent local business owners. Quickly realized the whole thing was set up by a consortium of consultants to lure people into hiring their services. Numerous "Bobs", who looked like fellow attendees, would strike up a conversation and say "wouldn't you like to make your company more efficient?" or "I can show you how to modernize your operations." Told the boss not to go in the future and never send me again.

Often people sell their company for a nice chunk of change and do just that. No more employees to babysit. No more compliance. The benefits go on and on as you wait for a more favorable climate to be in business.

I've seen companies trim the fat before and I always seem to know who'll go first. But whatever happens, if you do your best you have no worries. I'm not talking about the random poor souls who get worked over by their tyrant bosses. I like being in construction. I'm only as good as my last job. And the last good job got me a great job.
