1974 - I was 6yo living in Hardin MT. Remember seeing a Petty blue Superbird at the hamburger stand. Car looked like it had the sh** kicked out of it...so did the people driving it.. I thought it was cool.

1977 - I was 9yo living in Minot ND - There was a Petty blue Daytona that lived across the street from my buddys house. That car also had the holy sh** kicked out of it...and so did the owners.. I think it had "HEMI" emblems on the doors. I remember a for sale sign popping up in the 1/4 window with $2500 written on it.

1980/81 - I was 12 yo living in Spokane WA. I remember seeing a yellow Superbird parked on top of a freshly plowed snow bank. Car actually looked pretty nice.

I have no idea why I remember crap like this... but I do...

Was a 100 point type IIRC Superbird I pulled up next to on Hwy 3 on Clear Lake (Johnson Space Center NASA) area, about 2002, that was the factory red-orange w BLK vinyl top and it was running OEM skinny tires on those Grey painted Kelsey Hayses(?) alloy recalled wheels...

AS I recall... Both wing cars had a mandatory Vinyl roof on STREET cars to hide the butcher job they did while moving the rear window glass to its more 'aero -dynamic " location.

It was the Bird that had a cap (called a plug) added to relocate the back glass. Those were pretty rough and a vinyl top was the easiest/cheapest (read MOPAR) way to hide it. The Daytona used the steel structure developed for the 500 roof line that did not have the "tunneled" back glass like the regular Charger.
Find a picture of a stock street Daytona with a vinyl top, then find a picture of a stock street Bird without a vinyl top. BTW, normal B body headliners don't fit because of the roof and window change.

There is a place about a 1/4 mile from my shop in Portland, Or that used to make concrete unit steps for houses and buildings. They went out of business in the 70's and by the 80's the building outside was covered with weeds, berry vines, etc. Building was bought by an older gent. I'm told by very reliable sources that he had 7 or 8 Superbirds in that building. When he passed the "kid" sold them off and now doesn't have a pot to pee in or a window to toss it out of.

The wing on the Superbird does not appear to be as functional as the wing on the Judge....meaning - you can't use it as a workbench.

I wouldn't bet on it but I seem to remember it being white with a red stripe at the wing & without a vinyl top - so likely a Daytona.

The scene was just like the car commercials of the day, we were all playing wiffle ball in the street & heard it coming - when it pulled to the stop sign & came into view we all stood still & went silent. It rolled through the intersection and went on it's way and we just stood there staring at where it had been. I may have been 8 at the time.
