Cut 1" off the free length of the spring for 2" drop. People who have cut x # of coils and got good results are just lucky! Why ? different springs have different numbers of coils. A spring with 6 coils will drop the car further than a spring with 10 or 12 coils when cutting x # of coils. Keith S had it exactly right.

leekm Thats how my car sits right now with the factory springs in it. I wish I had the time to cut them down so I can get it lower in the front. I don't like looking at the car sitting on level ground & can see inside the engine compartment. Plus with the front up it slows you down because of the amount of air that can get under the car.

Ken - have set of front springs on our '79 Trans Am WS6 Y84 4-spd purchased from HO Racing IIRC were supposed to drop 1/2 to 1" from stock IIRC - Yes?

I may still have the HO box in garage. These springs (HO Racing) are great enhancement of the factory WS6 coupled with the KONI Red Shocks.

If I wanted to purchase another set of similar front springs - where & what specs do you recommend I look for? Thx!

Yes 1" drop.
I'll check Tue. to see if there is another set in the warehouse. I think there are a couple of sets of GTO springs gathering dust, but not sure on the T/As.
