(from the later years like from 1967 and newer)

Also many people claim and flow tests have been done that say that the stock cast iron intakes out preform the RA IV aluminium intake!

The 9790140 also has a smaller thread size for fitting for the air cleaner vacuum port. The 9794234 is a larger thread.

Thanks everybody for the info....good stuff. Now I search for the correct intake. Luckily it sounds like that should be a little easier to locate compared to some of the other items.

I know I checked dates for Chris some time ago, perhaps a C248 date was the closest I had out of 15 or 16 intakes (running off memory). I'll check numbers/dates again sometime this weekend and report back on what I found between 0140 and 4234.

I know we did do this some time before on the dates to clear up the confusion of when they were phased in.

Just to clear it up a little more - these intakes were not limited to the GTO or Firebirds but were introduced across the entire Pontiac line and were used on all of the engine displacements that made use of a 4bbl intake.

Chris my RA II heads are the F198 castings, has it been determined if those made it onto production cars? I would assume that date head would have made it onto some July cars?

I believe they did make it into production cars - there were too many casting dates in June for them not to be. I've found sets cast on F138, F158 and multiple sets on F198 but do not have them tied to cars unfortunately in my notebook.

I have to believe that some or most of those ended up on late production cars built in June & July. The only heads we know for sure were Service Replacement were the A209, A229 & A239 dated ones

What's the build date on your car? Is it on BVZ's list?

Oh no, no RA II for me, just the RA I Conv. But I have had these heads for almost ten years. I have 31's now, so I will run them on the conv. Someday I would like to do a registry like the Judge Registry of all the 68 RA I and RA II cars. So many projects, not enough time!

Cool Info !
From the past several times i can remember this question being posted/quized on the 68 Intakes , that is the tightest margin anyone has brought to light yet. iirc
And you did it with your own inventory too !

There really should be Ram1 GTO and Ram1 Bird roll call threads started on here too.
Believe we have gotten through most all of the known Ram2 cars owned on the board.

Who's to say A209, A329, &A239 were purposed for SR-(warranty) only? Were there other reasons to cast the 96 series? Dealership-OTC requests?

When the Jan of 69 RA II heads were cast the 1969 RA IV heads would have been out too. You would think for OTC applications people would have wanted the latest and greatest RA IV heads?

Good point. Were RAIV heads available over the counter in Jan 69? I thought the first RAIV cars were built around late Feb 69? I found a registry online and I didn't see any RAIVs built before 2/25/69 but it may not be a complete list. Do we know about when the first RAIV was produced and about when the first pair of RAIV heads would have been available for purchase over the counter?
