Recently (Sept), bought models of LG and Kichenaid, all were floor models too. Best prices in the state before the price reductions and not a scratch or dent on them. Waving cash at this place, you would have got a good laugh, Lowes, Home Depot, no where close.

Finally, after kitchen remodel, have all but cooktop hooked up. Just pulled the old cooktop, granite guys tomorrow.

Default Water filter on fridge.

I learned to wait until the water delivery slows down before I replace the filter - that's the real sign of it wearing out. The "replace" light comes on at 6 months - the 1/2 price "off brand" filter I tried once lasted three. The filters usually really last 9 or 10 months.

This is my first ever refrigerator with an ice and water dispenser, so I use it. I've come to prefer the taste, too. My kids get tap water, though - for the fluoride.

Fridge, washer and dryer I have no issue being slightly used if it saves me 50-70%. Hot water heater, and AC units, I want the new top of the line with max warranty. Hot water heaters because Ive heard of them exploding, and AC units, because I dont like being hot and want to be able to call someone to fix it for free for as long as possible.

Scratch and dent section is a good idea btw

Oh yeah, it is an issue. Just look at the reviews for LG, GE etc. Many, many issues with new appliances.

Really wanted a Kitchen Aid (made by WHP), but nobody in my area carries more than one model of them (Sears). Will try for scratch and dent somewhere. Can not wait for the next model year unfortunately. Would gladly wave cash at a non big box store. That has not worked for me at those before. Plus, the big box stores all have to order any of the ones I was interested in. Selection is minimal.

This is almost as much of a PITA as figuring out what light bulb to buy. And paying for it.

This is a good post. We're looking at having to replace the wishwasher. From what I've found online, it looks like the control PC board costs MORE than a new dishwasher.
