Rear 1/4's What I think is the worst part of the car.
The rust around the rear window does not seem to be a hole, the trunk looks rust free

The inside of the trunk is dry and not rusty, and some spare parts including the rear sway bar & mounts. Some surface rust around the window louvers, and the floor pans look good.
The shifter porch is riveted on, it is an original 73-77 part but not original to this car. But you can see it has a Muncie in it by the aluminum case.

The engine looks to be a 350 to me, 67-72 divorced choke manifold, #16 heads, looks to have 73 timing cover and accessory brackets. Could not see the engine code. I only had about 15 minutes to look at the car and it was very dark in the unlit barn on a cloudy day.
New parts visable were Holley Carb, Battery, and newer 4-tube coated headers. Engine started, idled well with no odd noises, and did not smoke.

Some more of the body, the door and trunk pinch welds are starting to rust, the doors are heavy surface rust at the very least, original paint as far as I could tell. Front fenders are just starting to go behind the wheel wells

Interior is alittle rough carpet is shot, drivers seat is rough, passenger and rear seat are OK, the only bad part of the dash is were they all seem to go where the driver hits their knee. Headliner is OK, all glass looked OK but had about 5 years of dust on it.
Worst dent on the car is the broken passenger side mirror, a replacement is on the back seat, along with the original dash bezel.

Last couple of shots, the spare 3.23 posi axle that comes with the car, and the emissions decal. Hope they show you enough to help with the seller. Let me know how it goes. I am close enough to help with loading if you decide to go for it.

i wonder if it was converted to a 4 speed. An original shifter porch is spot welded to the floor pan. PHS will tell.

Horst did you read all of Jeff's post? Current owner said it was converted and Jeff said the shifter porch is riveted on!
Lyn.

If I wanted a 4 speed car of this vintage, I'd be hard pressed to do much better. Needs some love, but there's so much worse out there for the same money. A little afternoon tender care on the shifter and you should be able to drive it.

Quote:
A proper 4 speed conversion requires many more details than what is obvious (like wiring harnesses). Hopefully the seller had a good donor car.

It looks like it has all the proper clutch parts, and the proper 73-74 Shifter porch, I could not verify much though, very dark and I was only available from 2:00pm to 4:30pm, and the seller wasn't available until 4:15pm so I only had about 15 minutes to look over the car.
I wish I could have seen the Engine block code, but I suspect it is a put together engine, if the heads match the block it could be a 69 428? but all I could tell from my quick once over was it has a transfer lug so it is not a 389 or 400, and has #16 heads. If it does have a running 428 it would be a great price at $3000. And if it is a built 350 as I suspect it is not over priced at that number with all the hard to find parts on it, and the unrepainted body so you can actually see all the problem areas. The seller said he bought it in as is condition from a friend of his about 5 years ago, and it drove to its present location in October of 2015. And by the way it started up cold I can believe that story. He definately did not get a chance to warm it up before as I arrived 30 minutes before he did so I was there when he opened up the barn. With the choke not hooked up it took about 30 seconds of cranking to fire it up, stalled once, immediately restarted and then would idle. Not bad for a cold un chocked Pontiac with a Holley double pumper on it.

The fact that the backdrive linkage was retained tells me that this wasn't a total hack job conversion. Those parts are tough to find.

You can tell it was an auto because you can see the light bulb in the socket that would have gone in the auto shift indicator, as I have the same thing in mine tucked under the carpet as mine was an auto when I bought the car & changed it to a 4 speed after about 10 years of driving it as an auto. The shift handle is a factory shift handle & it probably cam from a car that had a stick without a console as it doesn't have enough bends in it for a handle for a car with a console. To much junk in the trunk to see for sure what it looks like under all the garbage in it. The rust in it is repairable & if it runs good the price isn't out of range.
