With your use of a hydraulic flat tappet cam it is not necessary no matter the horsepower level, it's not a roller cam and certianly not enough spring pressure involved. Go back and read my post about 'Roller Pressure Angle' and do additional research on the subject. But if it gives you a warm cozy feeling go ahead.

X2. Unnecessary hardware on a flat tappet hydraulic or solid lifter camshaft.
Roller camshafts with aggressive lobes at .200" lift point, yes.

X3 on unnecessary. Might be time to point out that the lifter braces are not a quick bolt-in item. They have to be fitted to the lifter bore exteriors, and while the braces are nicely finished, the block is not. So be prepared to spend a lot of time grinding away on the braces to obtain a close fit. Then mix up the epoxy and slather on to fill in the remaining gaps that will still be there no matter how much time you spend on fitment. Then be prepared to crank down the brace bolts while sliding a lifter in the bore to insure you don't over-tighten and make the bore out of round. All this might be worth it when you have radical roller lobes acting like a baseball bat to the roller, and really a wasted exercise when dealing with a mild lift cam.

Agreed with all. Not needed for a flat tappet cam, but if he wants to swap out to a big roller later on, he can do so without all the hassle so if you have the $250. Go for it.
