Rebuilding them isn't that difficult, but getting the proper valving is.

The o-ring kits are not that good either, and getting a housing to seal can be a challenge.

If you start with a worn bad casting it doesn't matter whether a professional rebuilder or home mechanic does the work. Have a friend that built a test unit years back and none of the Autoparts stores' rebuilt assemblies could muster over 650 pounds of pressure. Think he ended up using a new AGR pump.

Exactly Mick, if it's a worn out casting, or other hard parts, it's done. You have a bearing go bad, have a total burn out, it's toast. It eats the hard parts, no rebuilding can fix that without replacing the hard parts.

Not sure about AGR pumps, they were good at one time, as were the boxes, but the quality of the boxes dropped off so bad, no way would I trust a pump these days.

The Borgeson new pumps are good, but they don't list the psi/flow for them, so they are probably pegged. 1200-1400psi, 3.5-4+ GPM. So you COULD have a box valved for that, but you need to know what to ask for, and the places that are reputable now, might as well let them choose, and source both the pump and box from them. Turn One is a good example.

As good cores dry up, eventually, that will be the only option, unless you go to a type II pump. That's why I just cut to the chase.

Do a search here on how many folks had problems with replacement boxes, and you will see what I mean. In a number of those cases, it could just be the pump, or technically, the combo of pump/box valving. And all the guys that say the jeep boxes are the bomb, will eventually be in the same boat, if not already are.

Nick...Thanks for the tip on CVF...
I ordered the CVF Pulley set for the 67 GTO and a Pump.

The cost was totally reasonable, over $100.00 less than the "other guys".

They look fantastic and fit perfectly, aligning dead on.

I also bought the Saginaw pump. The reservoir is brand new, unlike 2 other "rebuilt" pumps I have bought in the past few years for almost as much. The shaft looks brand new, even the key was brand new. It was carefully prepped and plugged with all new bolts and a blingy shiny cap too...
Great service, answered questions quickly..

I'm buying another set for my 75 Formula which I have pulley alignment issues with also!

I have started a rebuild of a pump here, It does look easy, (once you figure out how to pop the reservoirs off without prying the edges..) but the issue has been finding a nice, undented reservoir.. By the time I have collected 4 pumps to pick from I coulda bought this one...

Recommend these guys..

Got any pics of the installed pulleys? Did you do the 1:1 set? underdrive? overdrive?

I got the 1:1.
They were all the same diameter as my originals. I didn't take a picture before I put the Radiator in.
I also have not put on the Alternator Pulley as I'm going to replace that soon.

The 67 Dampner fit perfectly inside the crank pulley with minimal outside clearance, wereas with the original there is a bit of clearance on the inner diameter.

Also didn't find the S/S bolts in the box until I had already reused mine. Made me laugh. I was a little miffed at first, then DOH!

I don't a picture of the Power Steering Pump, nor do I have their pump on it now because the belt I reused is of a length that to get the belt tight the reservoir is fairly high
(close to the engine) The lip on that new pump was hitting the PS bracket. The pump I had on the car before teardown was the Coke Bottle looking reservoir so it had a couple more inches of clearance.
A longer belt on the PS Pump will allow me to mount that pump. I'll do that this weekend if I have time..
