Ok, let me tell you my 1st time pass down the strip story.

My first car was a '82 Z28 with the mighty 145HP LG4 305 4 bbl. The car was lowered and had that plastic air dam under the radiator. I drove straight through the bleach box and scooped water all over the track. Before the track guy could even react, I commenced to doing a John Force burnout way past the tree (on GoodYear Eagle GT+4's no less!). So, um, after the track guy chewed my ass, and told me if I ever did that again, I wouldn't be able to EVER come back to their track, I made a blistering 17.24 pass.

Without all that said, you couldn't slap the smile off my face! -lol

Don't be ashamed of your times. It gives you a baseline, and going to the track and improving is the best thing about going to track.

I was 16 when I made that first pass. I ended getting that car in the high 10's with Dart headed 383 stroker.

My first pass ever was at Lapeer. The car went 15.10 on the first pass and I had it going 14.90 by the end of the day.

I'm still running that same car, next year will be 40 years. Now it goes 9.80's.

When I first started running at Lapeer you had to bring your own water for the burnout...

Well this track was an 1/8th mile
1st pass 10.62 @ 66 mph LOL
smoked the tires all the way down, second pass I let a lot of air out of my cooper radials...for a blistering 8.3 I cant remember the mph but that was my best for the day.
I have to figure out how to get it to hook a lot better but i'm looking at slicks now. I left the track and put 400 miles on my way home. I went to Indiana then a little cruise around southwest MI then home sunday. I wish I had gone to the track in the beginning of summer but life happened lol

Hey Indy congrats on your first track outing. It's such a blast. U drive your car on the street, u got a strong rear differential? Don't get slicks, you don't need them. Get a pair of drag radials, you'll be much happier. What kind of car do you have.
I know how addictive racing can be. I started racing my 67 LeMans with a 326 back in 98 it ran a blistering 17 seconds. Now it's runs 11.00 in the same Lemans that weighs 3800lbs floor mats and all.
Good luck man.

Thank you for the encouraging words!
3:55 gears 8.2 JD race all new rear, transgo th400 469 xr-276hr-10 cam cliffs carb and converter 2500 stall 275-60-15 rims suntuned distributer all in 3200 just a little 326...LOL

I will take your advice and get the drag radials,as i dont want to bring another set of tires. I usually drive a couple hundred miles on the way home.

I have those tires, if u have state inspection they may not pass. Look at the m\t ss drag radial. They are dot approved.
If your gonna leave all that stuff in the trunk pack it tight so the jack and other **** don't go flying into your trunk panels when gassing it
What rpm u leaving at?
