Year I was born. Great looking truck. I think I would re do the mechanicals and let the rest be as is. I never liked the looks of those trucks, my first vehicle was a 65 ford pickup which I thought had much smoother lines and more modern looking. As I have gotten older I can appreciate the chevys so much more and they have grown on me tremendously.

I have column parts to convert to a floor shift and a few odds and ends for that year.

My son-in-law has a 66 stepside that his grandfather bought new. Until recently it had the original 6 cylinder engine. Machine shop that rebuilt it screwed up the cylinders when they bored it out that it ruined the block. He's done a later model 6 for it and still retains the original 3 speed on the column. He's in the process of putting in a new gas tank and lines.

I didn't think much if the 60-66 pickups, in my younger days, especially the 60-63 models. I wasn't looking a particular year or model, just a Chevrolet pickup. A friend of a friend had this 68. It fit the bill, couldn't believe it had a 396, AC, PS, PB. Then I find out years later why it was painted gold...so I've grown attached to 67-72's, as many others have.

A good friend of mine had a 66 C-10, LWB. He had a small block 400 built for it (very mild street build), and a Muncie M20, had a 3.42 (8.5" 10 bolt)geared rear end out of a later model pickup. That pickup ran absolutely awesome!!!

I've NEVER liked ANY of the ford pickup styling, just my take on styling...A good friend has a 56 Ford F100, all dolled up has a 429 with a C6, has a 9" rear, with some type of street rod rear suspension. has Chrysler Cordoba torsion bar front suspension. He LOVES it, it's his dream pickup, sure ie NOT mine....

I gave it a wash today. No lack of patina on this one. And yes, my wife really wanted it. Other than the exterior color, it's like the one her father had. This has the Fawn interior that a majority of them came with. The Ivory color steering is correct too.
Hub caps are wrong, but that's the easiest fix.
It actually drives decent for what it is. Good power, doesn't smoke, tick, knock or leak!

Your wife can drive a three on the tree? I'm impressed.

Like I said, it's what she cut her teeth on as a teenager. A clutch doesn't scare her. She could bark 2nd in my GTO in those days. If I can find a picture of her from that time, I'll post it.

Man, this may sound crazy but I had a flashback of the smell of the interior when I looked at this shot...

While I'm partial to the '67-'72 gen, these are cool.

The only thing I would do to that truck is install new rubber pads on the brake and clutch pedals. And then drive it for years and years. Very cool to see a 55 year old truck so unmolested. Not even common out here in CA where I am. Love the body style of these years.

That's what I'm starting out doing, basic stuff like the pedal pads you mentioned. Today the carburetor was rebuilt. I have to put a new set of tires on it. Narrow white sidewalls maybe? Should look sharp flat towing the Vette to a crusie-in.

Love the truck, but after looking at this picture reminds me of what I dont like about these trucks, the gas tank in the cab, behind the seat. I would relocate it under the bed before I drive it anywhere.
