I exchanged emails with the owner. It had partial quarters and the trunk floor replaced several years back. Per the owner's statements, it was exported to England, restored there in the mid-90s, and then went to Canada in the mid-2000s. It also has some modifcations such as sub-frame connectors. There are a lot of things that are incorrect but it is a true SD car.

I have a numbers matching red 73 T/A 455 4-spd that was hit in the front end. Body shell is excellent, but the sub-frame was damaged. I also have a complete SD motor with no codes or SR numbers at all that I was planning to use in this car. My goal was to build a 73 SD455 4-spd with a/c built as a touring car when I retire. It will definitely have some modifications beyond stock so numbers match is not a problem. I was considering selling my wrecked 73 as a numbers matching standard 455 4-spd car, then sell the SD motor separately. The proceeds would put a big dent into the cost of this car, which I could drive right away. After digging into the specifics of the car, I'm not thrilled that that it has rust repair.

so whats the deal on this? i saw it on barn finds and it said it was originally a Y code regular 455, which would be correct for one with 4 speed and ac.

This SD TA is N139197 correct?

It was originally an automatic SD car with AC. Someone in early life, put a 4 speed in it. It also did not have it's original SD engine at some point when overseas. (had a 400 in it I believe)

It went to Canada sometime after a 'restoration'.
It acquired a SD engine along the way also.

Red with 461 custom interior. Seat belt deletes.

Do you mean Galveston? I've never seen it in Houston unless you live way near the coastline.

I don’t seem to have much trouble with salt air in Houston- I’m about 80 miles from the coast. In Galveston it’s a completely different story.

But, most of my cars are stored indoors

JAL is in the same area I’m in (Spring) and most of the cars here are pretty clean if they are taken care of.

couple things, 1. you cannot delete shoulder belts. they became DOT Mandated in January of 1968, and GM did Not install them till they absolutely had to as prices were set. So, the deletion is to Delete "standard" belts with a credit because the deluxe interior already has deluxe belts.
2. car insurance. trying to get a regular insurance adjuster to pay 53K for this car totalled would be a miracle. only a real Agreed value policy will pay that kind of cake.

You could delete the seat belts, and in some cases the heater/defroster, on those exports, depending on the requirements in that country.
And at the request of the consumer.

Very few examples of these deletes come to light for everyone to know about them as general knowledge.

This car was ordered with all seatbelts deleted per the invoice.
2 separate credits
for shoulder belts (A56)
and for lap belts (A48)

You won't see these two type credits on any US or Canada sold cars in 1973
