My thought, as others, don't change a thing. Improve what you can (paint buffing, etc...) keep it maintained. Tires, any repairs needed. I keep wondering about control arm bushings, and other suspension parts that are rubber.

An all original (nice)car form the 69's is pretty cool...an all original GTO is Waaay beyond cool!!!
I keep thinking about hearing Jay Leno, saying, it's only original once.

Drive it around, to shows and such. Someone offers too much $$$.........

who ever painted that car did it a major disservice! Espresso brown is a great color.

My daughter had a vintage-ish outfit on today and decided to take photos with the GTO since it matched.

After playing with the filters one of them looks like an old ad for Sears

I am in Ohio. You should be able to find some locally. It's not near as expensive as it was 5 years ago. I have been shoving it in customer's cars for a little under $20.00 a lb. Used to carry 6-8 cans in my luggage with other tools when I went to visit my parents in San Diego. Never a word. But that was before TSA. Never be able to get away with that now. Probably end up in jail!. Good luck with that great car.

The way that paint cleaned up it would be awfully tempting to pull the original engine and replace with a 500+ HP stroker and prowl the streets😂

That's exactly what I was thinking. How about a clone RAIV car. I have an XP coded 1969 RAIV motor out of an automatic judge. BTW.......I'm in Houston too!

Neat photos. Do the same staged in a cleaner background.

That color cleaned up pretty well. It looks similar to the 82 Silverado I recently sold, it was a kind of bronze/copper that Chevy called "Raisin".

I believe that even with the unusual repaint, this car falls into the "survivor/patina" realm. Do the bare minimum to make it reliable and safe and drive it everywhere.

Agree - not everyone's cup of tea, but my dream judge is a Expresso Brown with parchment interior.

I think CR with the brown/tan interior would be a major mistake. I've seen that before and it was ugly af.

Nice catch, I would leave as is , except for the wheels, clean it up, get it to where it is safe to drive. You could get new rally II wheels, new exhaust system to make a little more noise. I would hang on to all the original items. Have fun with it.

I can’t wait to get back and work on it some more. Most of the ignition parts will be here on Thursday.

My daughter and her friends are into taking vintage photos (thanks Instagram for getting my kid interested in my hobby!) so they do this all the time. We will definitely take some more once the car can be safely/easily moved.

I was never a fan of expresso brown until I started researching it. The Ram Air IV judge that just sold in expresso was beautiful.

The owner told me he was so pissed that he came home and his dad had changed the color- just hated it from day one.

I ordered more buffing pads to finish the car- the gross paint kind of kills them.

I think you are underestimating the color’s potential. That color reminds me of Palomino Copper used on the 70 and later years. Great looking color trimmed out right. I think it would look like a completely different car just adding the 69 side stripes like the judge’s used and some ralley 2’s. Drive it an enjoy. The vintage retro photo’s was a cool idea.

If you lose the hub caps and white walls, and add Rally 2's, it will completely transform the car.

I agree. I bet that color will grow on you too. Especially now that it has a little shine to it.

I may pull my 15” Rallye II’s off of my 70 LeMans and see what they do. I agree on the stripe- I would want to find a way to age it to make it look like it belonged there

Great find……f you do decide to paint it go back to Espresso Brown, you won’t regret it (personal choice here obviously)
