Some of the Black Floats were not sealed up very well by Holley or Modifiers.

Very Few understand Transfer Slot position and the effects it has on the ability of the carb to perform properly.

That is why you get the Primary Side "Blade Position Window" vs the Transfer Slot perfect and add extra idle air if needed with secondary blade opening or Idle By-pass Air circuits.

Actually I believe these started off white, turned yellow. You could see the gas inside the float when held up to a light.

Two different Floats. One white Plastic that turns to yellow and the Black float which is phoenelic.

Picture of white float in this link.

That's interesting, regarding using a PV that is 2 or 3 inches less than car idling or in gear. I always thought one divides in half was bang on as holley's videos mention that. I certainly went down the path of larger squirters and 50 cc pump arm to overcome lean stumble.

Actually the rule of thumb was vacuum divided by 2 and then ADD one number to the previous calculation answer. Or for example: engine idles at 11" of vacuum.

11" divided by 2 = 5.5 then add one inch of vacuum so the correct number to be installed would be 5.5 plus 1 = a 6.5 Power Valve.

A larger value number will ADD extra fuel SOONER.
