Crankshaft is at the Machine Shop now. From my own measurements the rod journals were out of round and/or tapered.

That is what I suspected. Maximum taper allowance on the rod journals of a “V” type crank is .0002; maximum O/R is .0005. I’ve seen “overseas” ( PRC) cranks that had as much as .001 taper and .001-.0015 O/R. Being “on stroke” was a joke; I had one that had one rod journal that was .040 out of stroke.
