It was used from 1969 to 1972 on GTOs and Firebirds. Maybe on 1968, too.
They were used on 1969 to 1972 Grand Prixs, too. These move a TON of air. |

The factory fan on Dad's 69 gto that he bought new is a 5 blade direct drive fan. Still have it stashed away. It's similar to the 7 blade direct drive mentioned early on in this thread I commented about that hole shot mentioned in post 12 but with only 5 blades.

We just acquired a 1965 LeMans a few weeks ago.
It has factory AC and the factory 7-blade fan and clutch. And about fifteen more options..... Anyway, I noticed that the fan blade had squared-off notches at the outer end of each blade. Got looking a little closer and the notches are needed to clear the bolt on the end of the power steering pump shaft that retains the pulley. I'm pretty sure that you've upgraded to the newer-style pump, so this might not be an issue on your build, but I wanted you to be aware of it. Here's a thread on another board showing what I'm talking about: https://www.gtoforum.com/threads/196...ptions.141672/ |

As a side note and PSA;
If you're running the factory aluminum blade, steel hub style, check closely for stress fractures in the aluminum next to the hub. My original fan came apart driving. Luckily the blade that came off, went straight down and not thru the hood! Did take out the shroud as it came apart. I found 2 more blades with fractures. Hope this saves somebody from having to spend 4 hours cleaning under the hood.
