I don't have an opinion on Lucas break-in oil BUT, I would try another break-in oil to eliminate that varible! JMHO

When Mike made his post about turning your mocked up engine over by hand with cam and lifters without lube and looking for lifter rotation......... that seems to be the way to go from here on out.

After having 2 HFT cams with issues on separate lobes, I wouldn’t consider using another HFT cam in this engine unless the cam was Nitrided. I think Paul K may have a Nitrided Crower 60919 floating around yet in his collection, see if he still has it, put the Crower cam savers on it and get back to enjoying your car.

If I were to do an FT cam, I’d check it as indicated for slope / all lifters rotate before nitriding it. Would suck to have that done and still have a cam that doesn’t rotate lifters.

It helps mate the lifters to the cam lobes and will not remove much taper on the cam from the break in. |
