Ok, update for you guys
Double checked float height, checked needle and seat were doing their thing. Everything checked out. Mounted the carb. Cranked it and it fired, but doesn't want to run on its own. Noticed it coughed out a very good amount of fuel, which is leading me to believe the pump is making too much pressure. I have a cheapo universal regulator. I'll make a makeshift fuel line and see what it's building for pressure.

Hi Jeff! Sorry I missed your post, havent been on here for a few days.
I think I got it figured out... I ended up pulling the distributor, setting the engine at 12° and dropping it back in. It would start, but still run like ass. Was acting like it was swinging the timing around wildly on itself, before dying. Fiddled with it some more. Nothing. Decided to re-check the points gap, and it was tight. Busted out the feeler gauges, and set them at .018. Now the car is acting like there's no spark at all. I pulled the points and condenser out. The points are really cheap, light weight with plastic in the assembly. Busted out the digital meter and checked the condenser. It was dead. A brand new condenser that had probably 30 minutes of combined run time **** itself. Dug around and found the points and condenser that was originally in the car, possibly original from 70? Threw them in, hit the key, and it runs like a Swiss watch. Go figure.

Condensers that test out on an ohm meter with any level of resistance are ( depending on the reading) going bad or fully bad.
Always keep a new tested spare in the glovebox .

Alright guys, I think we're getting this nailed down.
I currently have initial timing set at 12° with the vacuum advance disconnected. Runs beautifully. Pulls a steady 17" vacuum at idle, 800 rpms or so. With the advance plugged in to manifold vacuum, it's pushing timing close to 50°, so obviously I need to limit the advance. The distributor doesn't have an adjustable advance canister, so I guess the question is, should I swap canisters, or mechanically limit the advance? Do you guys have a preference? Where should my target be with the advance hooked up?
