Fresh air cowl vents. My AMC/Jeep J10 has the same knobs.

At $7,000 it's actually a pretty nice car....at $70,000...not so much.

It wasn't an XP, just an X, but it did have the V8 in it without the side pipes. It was a great little car with a lot of power. Actually too much for the weight of the car.

The 72 Gremlin was the best looking of them all. To me any year afterwards was butt ugly.

I actually liked the initial few years of the Gremlin back then. I was just getting to driving age and was working...somehow I thought a little car like that was attainable.
I still don't think the early ones are bad looking. I don't care at all for the looks of one in the Craigslist ad though.

Thumbs up

Agree on the early Gremies were even w the straight-6 stripper standard trans econo models like our neighbors across street when new in '72 was school bus yellow base model poverty caps and all...I thought it was cool.

Better was later in High School one of the guys had a Black w Black gut Gremlin with a blood red Gremlin X stripe 401 4-spd w Keystone Classic mags and 50 series fat tires...was said it would pull front wheels in the air during power shifts...same guy had @ same time had a Honda CBX 6-cylinder bike w Kerker Header and Sticky tires...about same paint job as the Gremi IIRC. times

I'd never seen this before recently. The original concept that became the production Gremlin. This car would sell today I think...

Not really a Craigslist ad as a FB friend spotted it for sale in NY.
Had a price of $6K on it. The bed is 12 feet long!

Have no problem selling my Pontiacs off, but my 50,000 mile 75 red Pacer is a keeper. Owned it since 1993. For the lousy 12-15 grand its worth, its a stayin with me. Gremlins, especially that 1978 are few and far between.
