Thanks, Craig.

Finally got the centre console fascia's finished.....muggy, hot day to be out in the garage, but I needed to pull the rear drums to have a few millimeters machined off the back of them for clearance on the shock mount plates (I'm running B body HD finned drums on the back).

While the machine shop was cutting the drums, I got stuck into the last of the wiring for the AFR and outside temp gauges.

Finished Dash

Console - please excuse the dust all over it...thought it was clean till the flash picked up all the dust....lol.

Rear seats were finished, we fitted them this morning. They look pretty good and the styling reflects the front ones...as much as it can for a flat rear seat.

Thanks.

Well....stress filled afternoon getting the inspection done, then crossing my fingers that it'd get through the paperwork jungle that is our Roads and Traffic Authority.

Success.....car has plates and registration.

Now, all I have to do is find out why the RH rear drum is still dragging after you drive the car a few miles......it all "looks" OK, but it gets warm and the brakes then grab on....and these are all new brakes.

Looks great! , maybe grease that adjuster threads, or never seize, I like to dab a tiny bit on the backing plates where the shoes slide, could also be the wheel cylinder is sticking, have seen new china models do that. The Aussies still issue the 2001 celebration plate, WoW . well, anyways just in time for summer, Ill expect a few scenic pics with your beast!

Thanks guys...appreciate the comments.
Talking with a friend of mine tonight......I just fitted the new booster and new master without checking the booster pin to mastercyl piston clearance.....if hte booster operating pin is pressing a little on the piston, the compensator port in the master is not uncovered when the brakes are released, leading to pressure building up each time the brakes are applied.....and you get dragging brakes.
I'm going to check there is some clearance there tomorrow. It might be something that simple.

Yep....it was the operating pin in the booster...there wasn't enough clearance to the piston in the mastercylinder. Easy fix, works fine, now. I like it when you can track down a problem.

BEFORE -

2.5 years later - AFTER - the 17" Honeycombs are back on.....

Reasonably chucky meat for only a 255 width.

Better pics to come later.....its too darned hot now, and I've got home chores to do, lol.

congrats, a very nice build/ride. you've come a long way with excellent results. one question, what is that "doo-hickey" on the trans hump between the rear seats for.

Leigh...I just gotta ask, what kind of fire extinguisher are you planning on using just in case you have an emergency. It's a good idea, but not what most of us gear-heads here in states would ever consider doing because it might detract from the appearance of the car. We're dumb like that. We promote it in our boats, school buses or race cars, but not our cool cars. Again, we're dumb like that.

The reason I asked is, 35+ years ago I had a carburetor accelerator pump that was leaking. I kept telling my self, I'm gonna fix that. You can guess the rest, it caught on fire one day. To greatly shorten this story, I grabbed the first extinguisher I could find. it was an A-B-C type. Good news, it put the fire out quick. Bad news, damn did I have mess. It took me forever to finally get all of that crap out of the engine compartment. I never did get all of it out and it began to do a number on the chrome, paint and metal under the hood. My suggestion to you or anyone keeping a fire extinguisher handy for an automotive fire is use a CO2 or Halon type or anything that doesn't have that yellow powder in it. It's a nightmare.

"ABC" fire extinguishers are filled with a fine yellow powder. The greatest portion of this powder is composed of monoammonium phosphate. Nitrogen is used to pressurize the extinguishers.

You got a beautiful car. I hope you, or anyone else here, never needs a fire extinguisher. It's a heartache anyway, don't add to it.

I'll finish by saying this. Don't let your car burn up because all you have is a yellow powder extinguisher. A mess beat no car!!!

Anyway Leigh...I love the color of your Formula. It's beautiful.

Eddie

Thanks, Eddie.
I hate dry chem powder extinguishers, which are all most auto parts places seem to sell.
I did some research and found Halguard halon extinguishers are available from Summit Racing.

http://www.h3rperformance.com/halguard_products.htm

My extinguisher is the HG250B (Black) on the right hand side of the first row. These are an FAA certified aviation quality extinguisher, and the halon means no clean up, other than the fire damage itself.

i thought the US banned Halon. the facility i work in had a halon suppression system in the data center for years, and had the system taken out about 7-8 yrs ago. company said it was mandated by law. could be like freon and take 20+ years to fully implement. i have thought about getting one though for my rides. like 1971455HO said, we think about everything else "but".

This is a halon "type" extinguishing agent....modified to meet the current requirements. You need these on aircraft....can you imagine the effect of letting off a dry chem extinguisher in the confines of a closed cabin?
The original halon agents are no longer legal for use.....even BCF (great extinguishing agent) is not legal for use - I've got one on the wall of my garage, still showing fully charged.
