Nice car,but isn't that a lot of rust on that engine for 60k miles?
I wouldn't kick it out of bed though

It just goes to show that proper storage is a key element. This one had some wet/over humidified storage areas in its lifetime. Too bad as it could have been kept nicer, but it still is what it is, an unmolested, original 73 SD. SDD

Yeap, I wish I had the extra coin to purchase that Brewster car but not in the sock drawer today.
Here is that 74 8k mile car that has been reduced to a more realistic number. The car still has some weird issues for being such a low mileage car though. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ponti...spagenameZWDVW I wonder if this will cause Dick to wait and see before posting his car ? |

I believe that car was sold a few years back with wire wheels for something like 50k.

I assume your referring to the red 74 car ?
Either way allot has happened with the market over a few years and now the seller is getting into a more realistic number to turn the car. There are some weird things on it that need attention but bottom line they appear easy to correct. I just wish the red one had that rare windshield washer unit to review again. Yessssssssssssssss! |

If I sold both our 73 and 79 T/A's and my 442 I know it would only be buying an SD in need of a full resto. Spending 100k and then maybe 50-60k more.........that I can't do. ![]() ...........wish I could....

I hear that! I'd rather have three cars that you can enjoy then just one anyway.

SD question for my '73. It's rounding the corner to completion at the paint shop. I'll be using the correct looking factory plastic valence. Where the parking light bezels installed with this valence and painted the color of the valence or just left out all together?
Thanky! |

The parking lamp assemblies for the plastic valance are completely different than the metal ones. They are a sealed plastic assembly with the amber lens glued to the housing. The only sepearate piece is the cast metal "crosshair" bezel that mounts to the front of the assembly. The bulb plugs into the wiring harness socket which then locks into the back of the lens. There is no spacer like the lenses used on the metal valance. I dont think they will interchange. I will try to get a photo of my plastic valance lamps later this evening.

So it is a PLASTIC silver bezel surrounding the the argent light housing with the chrome cross bezels! Ours is of that style, but I am missing the "plastic" silver bezels surrounding them. I am on the hunt I have heard this was the early style front valance, while the plastic body colored parking light bezels were the later. I could be wrong and usually am

Father&Son73T/A, it sounds like you're as confused about this as I am. Hopefully we'll both get something figured out after this is all done. I may even have an extra set of '73 lights when this is all said and done. If they are different, then I'll be short a plastic valence set. Anyone out there got a set for sale or trade? |

I believe both metal and plastic valances use a amber lens and housing assembly which are glued together and the only difference is the metal valance uses a plastic bezel which is painted to match the given color of the car/valance. They also both use the same cross hair retainer for assembly.
Hope this helps with the confusion, Brewster |

The inner that you make reference to is the light bulb housing and amber lens assembly that is glued together that Steve notes above.
Thanks for the pictures SDD |

Thanks for the Pic's S-D-D!
So Brew, if I do understand you correctly, there is no difference between the metal and plastic valence versions once I discard the bezel? Or are you saying they both have basically the same parts but different versions? I think I still may be on the hunt. |
