Amen Brother, Amen. 100% agree...IF she does win a race that goes green to the checkers I'll give her props when due, not so if it's a "gimme" win such as Tony etc. letting her pass to check mark a win for further hype. Sponsors and NASCAR should want a real performance and real win; if they give us less than that they will lose MORE of the fan base and customers turning the series into a "Professional Wrestling" or "Women's Roller Derby"...

Whatever.
K So, off the top of your head, who's the 26th ranked and last race 12th place finisher in the race series you were in? Male or Female - shouldn't matter.

Who are the other female competitors in the races as Danika? No cheating now looking them up on the web...off of the top of your head, who are they? Can you name them? (I can't) Do YOU hear FOX etc. constantly hyping them ad naseum? EXACTLY the point here.

It would be at the end of the year if someone runs away with the championship or maybe a shootout race. Hmmm, wonder why...

I think the comment made after the race by one of the commentators may win the award for the funniest line of the year.

Kevin Harvick, Danica Patrick, and Brian Vickers all crossed the finish line with a few feet of each other, battling for 11th, 12th, and 13th. After they crossed the line, and they had all slowed down, Kevin Harvick came up behind Brian Vickers, set up on his 1/4 panel, and then deliberately spun out Vickers. One of those heat of the moment deals. Then Harvick pulled up along side Vickers, doing his usual bullying tactic, daring him to do something, before both cars turned into the garage area.

One of the commentators (I think it was Waltrip) said that he thinks Harvick didn't like the way Vickers was running Danica the last few laps.

OH REALLY? We laughed our collective asses off on that one! As if Kevin Harvick is somehow Danica's knight in shining armor, protecting her from those beasts out on the race track! Heck, even a teammate of Danica's wouldn't do that, much less Kevin Harvick! I have no problem with Harvick turning Vickers, but to insinuate he did it because he didn't like how Vickers was racing Danica, that's hysterical!

Hmmmm....maybe Joey Logano took out Denny Hamlin last race because he didn't like how Denny was racing Kyle Busch.

It's all about Danica! The MSM is making the news not reporting it.

Racing a short track clean to win isn't in her realm, just go out there and drive around waiting for the other cars to either get wrecked or drop out when you have one of the best horses on the track doesn't make her a racer.

Let us not forget she has big money, great crew, top quality equipment and a lot of years and miles in all kinds of kinds of different race cars. She's been racing since she was 10 years old, starting off in go karts, now 31 she's got 21 years of racing, more than I ever had. Some of her competition isn't even 21 years old and drive a lot better than she does. The difference is I won more races in 5-6 years than she has in her whole career.

You need to check her stats, races entered 240, wins 1, win percentage.042%.

That sound like a racer to you?

I've raced with plenty of women during my career and have seen few that impress me.

Considering her parents bought her rides she was always in good equipment I am not the least bit impressed, maybe your standards aren't as high as mine are though

You want to see a girl that can drive a race car? WATCH THE #27 CAR IN THIS VIDEO!!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sq77Z0ydXqQ

Paige Polyak was the first woman to win a feature at Eldora Speedway in 59 years. She has moved up from the 305 sprints, to 410s this year, 1375 lbs 8-900 HP.
I believe she'll be a threat if she has decent equipment under her. One other thing, she's 19 YO...................

Last year when I went to watch the Prelude to the Dream at Eldora, Wanica was racing and she wrecked on the second lap piling into the wall right in front of my seat.

Actually, I think it's more the fact that women, and some men, are ticked off that a girl can't do as well as a man.

Does that sound chauvinistic? Is that insulting?

Well, too bad, because it's insulting to ME that some people believe that people are out to "get her" because she's a woman.

I guess the people that criticize the Chicago Cubs are also just "meanies" when we point out they haven't won a World Series in over 100 years.

I think Danica is a decent driver, I said that all along. Just not up to the hype.

Chicago Cubs should not be allowed as a team in pro baseball .
They had 100 years to prove otherwise.
Let someone else have their place.

Pro baseball is such a crock for allowing them to be a team
if it weren't for their money they wouldn't even be there .
lol

Danica is the best shot in the arm Nascar has had since The Man in Black
You either loved him or hated him -
and folks would tune in every week that wanted to see him do good,
or hoped he'd do bad.
About the same result with Danica

"Well, too bad, because it's insulting to ME that some people believe that people are out to "get her" because she's a woman. "

Its all because she is a woman.
Since she is the only woman currently driving - they hump her to death via media.
She doesn't run to the camera crews , they run to her.
If it was a new boy named Danny , this thread would be 5 or 10 posts , and buried.

Still you people don't get it. Case in point, The Man in Black was an EXCELLENT DRIVER! Has NOTHING to do with what is or isn't (literally) between the legs. I'll add that what is "best" for NASCAR is a matter of opinion and perspective.

Hmmmm...I do believe that Richard Petty got a majority of his 200 wins that way! Had the best equipment and most of the field were several laps down or out of the race.

For the record, I actually like Richard Petty quite a bit and think he did have talent to drive. But, I also think Danica does, too. These days, finishing 12th at Martinsville takes talent. The competition is just too tough. So, she did good. Give her a break!!

I cannot believe someone is comparing DANICA to Richard Petty. Lets get real! She is not even in the same Galaxy. You guys definitely have blinders on. She is a poser and not a racer. I wish I could not win anything and be considered the best ever. You need to get your Kool-Aid checked out for illegal substances!

You better go back and watch some of the old NASCAR footage if you think Petty was just out there driving around avoiding wrecks. Also Richard Petty never had a .042% win average in 240 races winning one because of fuel mileage. Had it not been for the fuel mileage win which was called by the crew chief, she'd be at .000%. Tell me who puts up money to sponsor a driver in a cup car that has 1 win in 21 years, 240 races, they are counting on the media to get their advertising, not driver talent. They already know how to merchandise her because they did it already in in Indy car, now they changed the venue to reach more people, same plan bigger audience. It's not about winning, it's about how much advertising they can get for their bucks.

Get real, comparing her to Richard Petty is like comparing a little leaguer to Mickey Mantle. She is not a Cup caliber driver and after she quits NASCAR or loses her ride you'll never hear anyone talking about what she brought to NASCAR. I'm doubting you'll hear anyone talking about her 12th place finish in the 2013 spring Martinsville race in 20 years.......................

I've followed NASCAR and raced and followed the local dirt track racers for over 55 years, she is not and will never be a huge talent in NASCAR or any other venue she chooses to lose in. You want to see a woman that can drive a race car, watch Paige Polyak in the you tube link I posted, that is talent, not just driving around avoiding other cars. To be a racer you have to have the will to compete, and the talent to execute the moves to get to the front. Johnson won the race, you didn't see him playing it safe and hanging back waiting to inherit the lead.

During my driving career I always started in the rear 20% in the feature and if you want to win, you need to pass cars, not wait for them to wreck or have mechanical trouble. That is the difference in having the drive and talent to win races, she doesn't have either.
MEDIOCRE !!!!!!

me·di·o·cre

/ˌmēdēˈōkər/
Adjective
Of only moderate quality; not very good: "a mediocre driver".

The sad thing is Wanica thinks she's doing well, news flash, 26th ain't good. Her boss, Tony Stewart is 22nd and he's not happy being where he is, believe me.

There is no other woman racing in Sprint Cup this year .
Danica is the only one making the field .

If another one exists - and has a ride - they aren't making it into the line up .

Not making the field every week on qualifying times, they purchased provisional starting spots from another team and have used one already. To my knowledge no rookie has had this luxury in the past.

Quote:
It has happened again – Danica Patrick has been given a free pass into NASCAR, at least for two events at the beginning of the season.
On Friday, Stewart Haas Racing announced they had made a deal with Robinson/Blakeney Racing and acquired points from the No. 49 so that Patrick would not miss the races at Phoenix and Las Vegas. RBR was 42nd in owner points overall in 2012 – so the points exchange may not help as much at Daytona, but will help at the other two tracks in case of inclement weather.
“At Daytona, we know the No. 10 team needs to either qualify on speed or race its way into the Daytona 500 via a strong finish in the Budweiser Duel,” Frood said.
“But if rain cancels qualifying at either Phoenix or Las Vegas, our No. 10 team will be well positioned to earn a provisional starting spot and race on Sunday.”

Richard Petty had 200 wins, 140 of those occurred before 1972 (the beginning of the 'Modern Era'). Granted, before 1972 there were dirt tracks on the schedule, even 50+ race seasons, but after 1972, you had a 30+ race schedule, no dirt tracks, and Petty continued to win. He racked up another 60 wins from 1972-1984. That's an average of 4.6 wins per season, and that wasn't against a bunch of pikers, it was against the likes of David Pearson, Cale Yarborough, Buddy Baker, Darrell Waltrip, Bobby Allison, Bill Elliott, and Dale Earnhardt.

So even if you eliminate all the pre-1972 wins, Petty had 60 wins in 13 seasons, not bad.

Dale Earnhardt had 76 wins in 26 seasons, Jeff Gordon has 81 wins in 22 years.

Danica can get Petty's autograph, but that's about as close as she'll come to being a legend.

Sorry I wasn't around to partake in this....

Anyone that believes that the race in Martinsville all of a sudden makes Iwanica relevant is an apologist.

I couldn't believe the way Waltrip (and others) kept claiming that Kenny S. spun Danica out???

Danica went into that corner to fast, couldn't hold her line and drove into Kenny.

She never touched the curbing - Kenny gave her room - just not enough for an inexperienced mediocre driver with some of the best equipment available attempting to go into a corner too fast....

Kenny, a very experienced driver with mediocre equipment, maintained control of his car.

Iwanica, not so much.

It wasn't racing talent that got her back on the lead lap from 2 laps down. Except for some well timed cautions, she most likely would have finished about 5 laps down.
