Yep We were there ....
First time for me running with any type of drag radial ever... Best time 13.07, 60 ft 2.01, all @107.79..and I was spinning ..... I need to work on my burn out technique ![]() I also need to get rid of the air shocks in the azz end as there is no give in the rear so not sure if that would help.....they will be off in a few weeks and hopefully we will be back in Aug.....hopefully I can borrow Andy tires again..... I actually ran a 13.06 @108 on street tires peddling the car.........figure that one out..... Ernie and Andys cars are ridiculous.....in a good way

Yup there also with the new T-2 and Jeffs 4150 custom unit.
Not a good night. First run blew the tires off and ran a 13:27 115. Second was a 11:45 121 but with a hesitation. Then the alt belt ate itself and a PS belt got the result. Both out . Had one and Ernie had a spare. Next 2 runs really bad hesitation from the line....called it. Spent the aft on the car found a huge vacuum leak. Cant believe i missed it. wanted to crawl under a rock...It was hard to spot . Everything reset and good to go....runs perfect. Yes Ernie......i owe you a belt....all good. Still fun with the boys. |

My buddy had a 72 GTO that was raced from day one, it had front and rear sway bars fully intact with plastic bushings in the end links. This car had some kind of drag race shocks, road like a lumber wagon on the street, mind you this was 1970's technology.

You're definitely going fast enough. From what I've seen you'll actually MPH a little higher with wheel spin than when you hook up. I think it's because the spinning wheels act like a loose torque converter and allow the engine to stay in a higher RPM band until the car really gets moving.
I bet some simple changes will allow you to hook better. I was getting high 1.6x to low 1.7x 60' times on street tires and running high 12.60s to low 12.70s @ 106-107 MPH with all poly bushed stock suspension and Koni shocks. For a burnout I smoked them as hard as I could. More heat helped. Dunno if it would be the same with DRs.

Well from what I was told from a friend who watched my burnout said I didn't do it long enough .and perhaps I wasn't in the groove of the track quite right either ...so next time more burnout time......and maybe a better eye....

For the burnout I have one of the sideview mirrors set to where I can see the smoke coming off the tire. When the smoke density turns from "light" to "dense" I ease off the throttle and end the burnout. Goigg any longer is just throwing away tire life. Get them too hot too often and seem like they turn hard and offer less traction. Usually stage somewhere around 2000rpm, then flash the converter a little.

My wife and I had a good weekend at the track..bought a cheap RV a while back and trailered the car down..ran Friday night stayed overnight and ran again Saturday..Friday night I wasn't thinking I was going to run..there was a light drizzle on the way and it didn't look too good..We arrived picked a beauty spot under a big old willow tree..they were dragging and prepping the track...I figured what the hell havent ran the car for a while..lets see how it performs..it was actually drizzling when I was driving up to tech..After tech I asked how is the track..a guy with a 9 second car told me no worries!..1st pass was the best of the night resulting in a 11.22 at 121.60 with a best ever 1.6240 60ft..next pass 11.2519 at 121.69 with a 1.6301 60ft..last pass upped the jetting spun hard ran 11.5280 at 120.95 with a 1.8210 60ft...called it a night ...track was getting greasy..
Saturday...first 2 passes spun..11.3837/121/1.737 11.3612/120.91/1.7639...dropped jetting 4 numbers front and back to test..3rd pass slop on start line..11.4612/121.53/1.7610..last pass and new best.........11.1692 with a 122.24 Meanwhile Andy (Torquewar) was there too!His first pass was 11.18!He spent time between several runs fine tuning the carb....and the result was his best on the last pass! 10.99............................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. ..................................Congrats Andy!
