I have been out for a week, and this thread has taken a nasty turn. Similar to Aron, I have a set of headers on order, and I have asked Deanna and Ron to move me back on the list. I have received a set this year. I was the guy that got a dyno test (a little political wrangling to get my set back in June). My second project got severely delayed, so my second set is similarly delayed. Not that it helps much, but I am trying to help the old orders get completed.

I almost feel like ordering another set to get the order filled and when I get my original set, sell them here- I don't think I'll have a problem

Ok........I have 2 sets of Tri-y headers for sale COMPLETE. Your choice if you want round or oval collectors put on them. One is an O-port, one is a D-port. These are uncoated. They fit 70-81 birds, and 68-73 GTO/Tempest/LeMans with automatic or 4 spd. $450 plus shipping

Again.....for those waiting, these are sets for sale ONLY because the bills need to be paid, not because he enjoys tormenting you all and putting others ahead of you. He is dying to have this over and behind him. I have talked to Ron. He has a pile of headers made. Some will be coated, others wont. I'm not going to go into who is next in line etc. But he has to bring some cash in for the bills AND coating. I believe he plans on taking care of a majority of the old orders at one time........coated or not. Thats his decision and I know some here are going to question it.

If you want a set of these FINISHED headers let me know.

Aaron,
I need a set for my 67 Bird in D-Port configuration if you can wrangle a pair. I can always sell the other set. I also have a brand new set of Headman Hustler part # 35160 for 70-81 firebirds round port with 2" primaries and Jet-Hot coated. First $500 takes them I can't wait to get my headers from Ron, I hope they are coming along??

Default WTF!!! You been waiting since 2005

Youve had 6 birthdays since ordering a set of headers? Holy Chit man. I guess you got screwed in A$$ dry. I felt like SUCKER of the world & I only bee waiting since June on a telephone PROMISED August delivery date from the man himself! I am posting every week on this forum until my contract is fulfilled or I hear Ron (Tribal Boobes) is out of business (screwing people)permantly. Anyone with any sense will not place any new orders until Ron makes things right and starts being honest wth his customers! I am moving on and purchasing headers frm a reputable business. If my $$ or headers show up I will be suprised. The world is full of con men who think that its alright to lie and take other peoples money and do what ever they want with it. We have been conned, and anyone thinking of doing business with Ron better beware for sure.

At this point, putting Ron further into debt is not the answer if any of us are going to get our headers. I still really want my headers. I also believe what I am hearing, that many are getting completed. Cross my fingers. I am only posting at some frequency to keep the focus going and not get too far ahead of ourselves with stainless and other options talk. First things first.

Well David. One thing the rest of us can be happy about is that if he's telling us the truth, geronimo has made his last post on the subject.

Ok guys….this is the deal. When each one of you ordered you either paid for headers or headers and coating. Because finances were tight on Ron’s end, the money got applied to whatever needed to be paid for at that moment. Whether it was a stack of boxes for shipping, a tool, tubing, welding supplies, electricity or the shop rent .

I want to remind everyone that Ron Watt hasn’t been going on vacations with your money. I’m going to lay out a NOT SO EXACT scenario here. You paid him $450 for a set of headers that (before 7-11) cost him $300 to build in materials & other labor. With that money he’s been trying to piece together old orders at the same time. So lets say he got another set built (didn’t always happen but lets just say…). So out of your $450, $300 is now gone just for your set. The remaining $150 never amounted to anything, because there was always something else to buy or fix or a bill to pay. This made trying to make the owed set along with the new set almost impossible. These aren’t excuses, they are facts. There has been ZERO profit margin in what he has been attempting thus far. Even with the new lower costs the sales have not been frequent enough to cover the bills for opperation.

Ron was hoping for a much better response in Feb 2010 and this year too, but it just hasnt happened.

I don’t think most of you believe Ron has been sitting around under an umbrella drinking tropical drinks……just bringing up the fact that in a startup business the expenses never end. And Ron was already in the hole starting again last year because he HAD to gather enough $ to make good on a lot of orders from 5 yrs ago. Money lost long ago to the situation at that time. Money he knows he OWED you guys. But still……..making getting started that much harder.

I have talked to him a lot. I believe he means well, and I hear the frustration in his voice. Do I believe he has made the best decision at every turn? No. I don’t know if the situation and stress were mine if I’d have made all the right choices.

Lets get to the present moment. Many sets are done, and many more are already bent up, shaped, collectors made, flanges ready and just waiting to be welded. Ron has been banging his head against a wall, trying to figure out how to pay for the coating that many headers were ordered with. He has stubbornly refused to say F*** it! and give up. At the same time, he isn’t getting anywhere. He has managed to here and there sell a set of headers for expenses…….but like the tide the bills keep rolling in and it hasn’t been enough.

His coater is expensive btw, and the only game around. I believe its $225 a set. Has offered to give him a discount if he can hand over a batch of 15…..and that’s what he has wanted to do. This would allow him to make up the coating price difference from now & 6yrs ago....the only way possible considering the numbers. But whether we are talking 1 set at a time, or all 15 at once……………………..where is the money to come from?

This is what I’ve been arguing about with him for the last month. I say that he needs to find some other solution. He has been saying, “they paid for coating and d*nm it they are going to be.”

But I kept reminding him that he also had to come up with the cash for shipping on any set where shipping had originally been paid too. Shipping has from what I’ve seen been between $55 and $75.

So I had made this suggestion….and he was adamantly opposed for quite a while.....would you guys be willing to take whatever you paid for coating as a down payment on another set of headers? I know some of you have no need for another set, nor the cash to pay for it! But I had an idea………It could work like this….you get your present set uncoated. When Ron is done getting all the old orders cleared out he builds another set. If you WANTED another set you just pay the difference (some guys have more than 1 car they wanted for). If you didn’t want…..that set gets put up for sale here and when it sells you get back your coating money from the sale.

I look at it this way…..Ron will still owe you something, but its something doable AND you have your headers. So its not as bad as right now….where he owes you headers AND coating and cant get it done.

Look…….if you guys have possible ideas for a workable solution as well…….send them to me. No promises cause I’m not the decision maker here, but I’ll listen and pass anything on. If you want to post an idea here that’s fine too, but PLEASE…….everyone respect everyone elses ideas. Do NOT tell someone else why their idea wont work, or that it has no merit. In other words…..lets refrain from negativity in any way. Also only from people involved, we have already seen what the unwanted posts from others have done.....they do NOT help but also lengthen this whole deal by making any new sale difficult. We arent trying to hide anything. The history is what it is.

PS – there are guys sitting here saying………I ordered a set uncoated…..whats the problem with delivering mine? All I can say is I don’t know the order of whats been made, and whats being assembled still. He has expressed that his main goal is everyone, not just one at a time & I hope he makes it through. He had to put the very few uncoated sets on hold to get the quantity needed for the coater, and now he is stuck again. I believe he has already started the uncoated sets too.

I know some of it has to do with what the tubing bender was set up to do at the moment…..switching the stuff isn’t easy. Takes time and wastes materials. Another example….the spacing is different on the center port tubes between o-ports and d-ports. Also, d-ports.........the bends out of those central ports are many times harder to make and take much more time because the tooling doesnt work well on a bend and guess what....its an immediate bend. Keep in mind he doesn’t have the equipment that Doug’s headers has at his disposal. These are essentially hand built headers, and each one is trial fitted to his test frame multiple times through the process.

So I’ll hope that explains to some extent why he hasn’t just gone and shipped out all the uncoated headers in the meantime.

Please let me know what you guys think and I will pass it along.....

Is 15 the number that are left from old orders?

How many of those were ordered with coating?

How much over the $450 was the cost of coating originally?

Are we in need of 100% compliance to buy an additional set of headers from those that ordered theirs coated to get this deal done? If not, then what?

I am assuming those that want an additional set will need to pay in advance.

Would you suggest ordering the additional set coated or not? I would suggest charging actual cost of coating one at a time, not volume discounted cost.

No. Fifteen was the # he had to hit with the coater to try and get a lower price. Problem is that now he is stuck and cant reach even that lower price. I'm not sure what the actual # of old orders left (total) is, but its somewhere just above or below the 15 mark IF I understand correctly. The coater specified 15 initially minimum, and after that it could be lower amounts.

How many of those were ordered with coating?
I dont know the actual numbers, but apparently it was at least 15 with old orders and newer orders. I'm not sure that the actual # makes any difference to those waiting? Its at least 15.

How much over the $450 was the cost of coating originally?
That changed. The orders he had from 5 yrs ago might have been $175, and more recently $225? I think? Dont quote me on that. If you paid for coating and you dont remember I can find out for you.

Are we in need of 100% compliance to buy an additional set of headers from those that ordered theirs coated to get this deal done? If not, then what?
I'm asking for interest in the idea here from those involved. The decision to try and do this lies between the buyers and Ron. So I'd say the idea has just been broached and lets see what people think. If some are against it then we can see what the buyers and Ron want to do.......either individually or as a group.

I am assuming those that want an additional set will need to pay in advance.
Paying in advance would help get the 2nd set done faster, but isnt necessary. If you want to get your 1st set and wait until the other old orders are delivered, Ron could then build a set and you could pay at that time. For those who want to pay in advance though........I'm willing to take your payment and get a date for delivery on the 1st & 2nd set.....guaranteeing as I have been for some.

Would you suggest ordering the additional set coated or not? I would suggest charging actual cost of coating one at a time, not volume discounted cost.
No....I would not personally recommend ordering ANOTHER set coated. Maybe later when he gets the coating situation worked out.

Aron,
I spoke to you over the phone earlier tonight about my headers. I troll here, but never post. Like I told you, I use this as my information bank. I have seen the posts, "Lets keep it respectful", yada yada... but this is how I see it. I've been screwed. Simply screwed. I paid $727 for a set of coated headers shipped to my house in Houston. So now in order to "make this right", which at this point as far as I'm concerned will never be right, it's going to cost me more money. I honestly cant even blame him. It's my fault because the signs were there all along and going into it I knew it was a crapshoot. I do not care about his cashflow situation. I, as everybody else these days, have a cashflow situation of my own. I dont feel sorry for him in the least bit. If you cant meet your obligations, you shouldnt take the money...Period.
With that being said. I am willing to work with YOU on trying to get this resolved. I am willing to split the difference on the coating for another set of uncoated headers if they ship this week. From my understanding, there are sets of headers just laying around so it shouldnt be too much of a problem. Even that is a stretch for me because at this junction, trust has gone out the window. The crappy thing for us is we have no recourse, none. He has my money and now he needs more. I feel like it is April and I'm doing my taxes. I'm not trying to knock the man, nor knock his product, nor throw dirt on a man who is down. I just want what I PAID my hard-earned money for. It's nothing personal.
