Be careful a vendor saying they have it in stock they substitute part numbers the HT-2148 a will fit the older original HT-2148 applications, but they will not fit the Pontiac retrofit. So verify that oil hole location if you buy them locally

That is so true. I bought an Sealed Power HT-2148 recently at Advance to make it solid so I could measure pushrod length. Guy behind the counter brought out the HT-2148A. He then went back and brought out the correct part. Be careful....

They seem to come in batches and you will have to keep your eye out. Retailers sell out rather quickly as well so they must be produced in limited numbers. The Gatermans I have are as nice or nicer quality as the Mexican HT2148 lifters I aslo have hiding somewhere.

Summit has the Howard’s in stock. The issue is you will need to make sure the lifter doesn’t drop too low on the base circle and close off the feed to the oil band. It’s a super easy fix that will not affect the future changes if you swap to something else later. Just use a chamfer bit or larger drill bit to chamfer the hole just a touch. (Will need the block disassembled to clean afterwards)

I do not know the seller other than the purchases I made. I figured by asking the question if the lifters showed up incorrect, there would be no issues returning them.

I am guessing you bought them pre covid? I’m gonna have to reevaluate my price the next round and if it’s even still worth it. The main demand has been filled. 42 sets plus a couple for me. I made $15 per set for my time, gas, and packaging. Probably made enough to make my sets free. I did it for my build and a few folks talked me into making a few more sets for them. That’s what started this. The last sets I had made the price went up $1.20 a piece. (Cost of material is going up) That’s $9.60 more a set. I don’t think many people are gonna pay more than what I have been selling them for.

I have been fronting the money buying 100 pcs at a time to keep the costs down. I have several sets left right now and can’t continue to have thousands of dollars tied up for long periods of time especially when I’m barely breaking even.

Sorry for the long post. It was definitely fulfilling contributing to the Pontiac community!

What you are doing is a good thing Stan. Not ever going to discount that so hopefully I did not come across that way.

Lifters were bought in September 2024. They have the vendor sticker over the Gaterman.

Also, the pin oiling is only on one side with the Gaterman. Not sure what Howards is sourcing now but I am betting the supply demand issue had them knocking on other factory doors for stock. Especially with a 100% mark-up.

Absolutely no offense taken. I have several folks discussing costs with me in PM’s. I just felt like putting it out there. It’s unfortunate that EVERYTHING costs so darn much these days. It was a fun project. I seem to do something like it every year or so. In the past it was always just for me. Had a couple people “convince” me to sell a few. I sill have 6 sets. (Have a couple set aside for a couple people) once they are gone I will reevaluate how to go forward. Everyone has been great to deal with so far.

If you look closely at the pictures the 1012 lifter has the window on just the one side of the axle not both.

Sealed Power HT-2148 lifters without modifications. There are a couple more with slight mods to the lifter boss oil feed hole.

I make the dog bones for this setup.

$200 for just the retainers if you want to use the ford spider, or source your own bolts, springs etc.

If you want the hardware that eliminates the need for the spider, add $50.

Those prices are shipped in the 48 states.

What is the max lift you can use with this setup? If I can run my 581 lift camshaft I might use this as an option. I don't really care for the retrofit lifter
