Most of the cars had issues at Kansas, the weather changed and threw a lot of them off. Heck, Kyle Bush wrecked all weekend, and like him or not, he has as much car control as anyone out there.
The difference is the amount of attention and praise doesn't match the results. Too many of us have highly tuned BS meters and most of the time when Danica is mentioned the meter is pegged. When David Reutimann first hit NASCAR he received a lot of attention. His track results didn't match it and the reporting fell off, as it should. |

Unfortunately, there is a major disconnect between reality and the media perception of what a competitive successful driver is when it comes to Danica. And as stated above, when it comes to her, my BS Meter is PEGGED! |

A comment on this. There are people on this and another car board I post on that think I am against woman racers. Nothing could be further from the truth. I have female friends that race, and I am very happy to see them improve and do well.
I'm not a "Danica Hater" really. I am a person that is just extremely frustrated seeing an underserving driver be given the opportunities that should be going to more qualified young drivers - male or female. And yes, I'm extremely frustrated that a friend of mine (with tons more talent) that has demonstrated much better results in the Nationwide Series for the same team Danica drove for couldn't get a permanent ride for lack of a sponsor. My friend, Steve Arpin, just signed a new deal to run Global Rally Cross after a test in Belgium 2 weeks ago. Last week he was in Brazil - first time ever racing in this class and finished 4th. These are the comments from his GRC car sponsor after Steve's first race for them: "As a first time Global Rallycross competitor in the recently completed Brazil X Games, we were impressed by Steve's ability to finish a strong fourth," said Randy Fisher, Royal Purple Marketing Director. "Given his racing experience, we are pleased that he has quickly found success in a fast growing and exciting extreme sport that Royal Purple is proud to partner with." Maybe Steve can pull a "Danica" and take Royal Purple from GRC up to NASCAR!!! Steve in action down in Brazil... ![]() ![]()

I agree that dirt track racing experience is a plus, but the "boys" play tough on the dirt, and I don't think Danica will like that.

Over the decades, how many guys with finishing records similar to Danica's have made it to, much less hung around in racing's top series? She generates money. Period. Her reality is waaay different from her hype.

I agree. Her "reality" is that she is a mediocre driver. Her "hype" is she's the great white female hope...
![]() There have already been female drivers in NASCAR that had more driving talent than her. |

Today at Richmond.
Larry Mac: "She keeps missing the garage entrance" DW: "They need a sign, Garage this way" Poor Danica. |

I'd love to hear what they say with the mic OFF.

David, back around 97 when Benny and Wally were still announcing, if you listened to the internet broadcast via Nascar.com, when they went to commercial their mic's stayed live. It use to be pretty good at times, half the time they were arguing with each other.
My favorite was Benny saying, "Man, I got to go to the bathroom". Mic went dead. |

And in a startling revelation...
![]() Danica qualified in the 30th spot. Now most people would think that's not very good (and it isn't). But for Danica, it's above her average (32nd). Will be interesting to see where she finishes - so far this year when she has an above average starting position she is not able to advance towards the front. |

Honestly I was burned on her back in her Indy days. Everything was someone else's fault, and Robin Miller fell all over himself talking about her any time the camera was on.
Heck Johanna Long finished 15th last night on the lead lap and I didn't hear a word about it. Of course Nelson Piquet Jr's kick below the belt got all the attention. I want to hear more about the fight later in the motorhome court.

I think it was her first try at Ind Speedway with all the cameras on, all the media hyping her, and at the end of the race she was leading. And then with about 4 laps to go everyone started passing her EASILY. And then the wreck came that locked her into 4th place finish under caution.
Fishy. |

No doubt she keeps the body shop guys happy, unless they get laid off from lack of work needed.

Well, I doubted Danica...
![]() I didn't think she could advance from her "above average" (for her) starting position, but she proved me wrong. She started 30th and finished 29th.... 4 laps down of course, but she did finish 29th... Not sure what would have happened if she'd actually been trying to race at Richmond rather than out for a Sunday drive on Saturday night.... |

She only finshed that good, because several people were in accidents while racing hard with each other and put themselfs out of the race.

![]() There was 1 car that was 1 lap down, 1 that was 2 laps down, 2 others like Danica that were 4 laps down, 1 that was 5 laps down and after that the rest were either in the garage or 8 or more laps down. |
