The American car craze has really taken off down here , Chevy and Ford are the Mainstreem Pontiacs seem to be gaining in popularity slowly The Canadian pontiacs were sold here new until 68 so the early sixties models are around Catalinas and Bonnevilles have all been imported There seems to be a lot comming down here lately , I picked up the GP last year , from Las Vegas ( that was a whole saga that cost me a few sleepless nights, the seller was a total scumbag tried to rip me ) I just got a 64 Bonneville Vista from MN and its on the way , it will be interesting to cruise around in that badboy My wife thinks I am nuts, I am only interested in Pontiacs

Brought this home about a month ago. '63 Catalina air car. Going to build a Gasser style out of it. This how it looked when I brought it home. No rust anywhere, just touches of surface rust here and there. Solid rust free floor.
![]() '57 Chevy wide beam axle for the front waiting to go in. ![]() Building a '60 389 block out to 406 a 4L80 trans, This is the AllPontiac midplate I'm converting into an adapter for th e early pattern to the 4L80 Chevy pattern. ![]() ![]() This is some slots with slicks that I might use for the gasser style look. ![]() ![]() Or I may go to a fully narrowed 9 inch all braced and bracketed for ladder bars and 15X15 rims with 31.5X16.5X15 ET Streets. Would have to narrow evrything back there though. ![]() 389/406 is getting these KRE 325 cfm heads, a roller cam, 3 center caps will be splayed 4 bolts, cryo'd parts (engine and trans) reinforced decks for boostin, 3.75 forged crank, GRP 6.615 alum rods, Ross 20cc light weight dished pistons. and it will all be turbocharged. Either twins or one big single. Not yet decided. ![]() I still have a lot to do and decide on. I'm cutting the firewall and moving the engine back so I have to build a firewall. Will probably make my own dash. I still have to make up my mind on the rear ends, either stock with limited tire or the narrowed 9 inch and a lot of tire. That's the plan so far. Nice find! I like the slotted mag look. It gives the old skool look.

If you tub it, the gasser look will be gone, atleast early gassers, i know big John Maz. tubbed his anglia in the late sixties, but that gives it more of a 70's street freak look.
My vote is definitely untubbed, if you're going for vintage on the outside. |

Hi,
here`s a pic of my 65 Bonneville Sports Coupe from Arizona Route 66 yard .. car was sitting since 1991 in Hualapai Indiana reservation..found at an highway dealer 3 years ago .. car is now drivalble, rebuilded 389 4bbl with some good old stuff 068 cam and many more.. brakes and inside is rebuilded or with old nice NOS parts refreshed.. .only trunk floor rust..a very solid low milgage car.. rare neightwatch blue paint.. sun burned .. i love the old desert patina style... you have it only one time! SO i keep it like it is! Only a set of nice old 8 lugs is waiting in my garage... I found out the first owner from LA .. i have contact with his father and son.. through facebook! Hi again,
and this is my 1965 convertible, canadian build.. i know not many Pontiac enthusiasts love canadian cars, but its very rare and have the Chevrolet drivetrain, frame and is very friendly to restore.. all "underwear" is Impala floors and so i could change all the rusty sheets easy with large full floors.. The car gets a big resto ..frame off.. and now it`s a great daily driver for the summer time.. Have you every seen an canadian Poncho with an TRI POWER? It`s the orginal 283 with Powerglide.. !! Some pics.. hope you like it!! |
