Might be worth talking to the guy just to see if it's a Cali thing or whatnot. If I were a 62 vert guy I'd own it.

Just talked with the guy. Air filter doesnt have the side mount bracket with bolts to hold the cover. I am thinking its from another GM product. Maybe Buick or Olds?? The extra breather part on the air filter has a grommet into the top of the housing & mounts to the top of the oil fill cap. Am assuming its a crankcase breather of some sort. He is sending me some more pictures. Car's vin # is 162P80218. So, Pontiac Mi. car in California. Said it had been sitting for 25 years. Runs, drives, shifts fine. Power steering car.

Default Pictures.

Well here they are. Very small & grainey. Cant blow them up much. PCV is coming off of the center of the valve cover. Clean air vent is off of the oil fill cap. Interesting for sure. All parts according to the owner looks to be of factory production & fit perfectly.

That's cool, man. Thanks for following up. I've been too busy with parts buyers to get into "it" with him.

Default crankcase ventilation

Pontiac didn't start venting the crankcase pressure through the PCV valve from the valve covers until the late 60's, if I recall correctly. '61 tempest 4 cylinder engines still used a draft tube. In '63 the PCV was placed in the pushrod cover. I think '62 models did, also. Haven't ever run across a set up like this '62 convertible has. It was either a very early attempt at replacing the old draft tube, a "California emission" only set up, or a previous owner modification. Couldn't find any mention of a valve cover PCV valve in the Chassis manual. The valve cover doesn't look correct, either.

Here is a Lemans with a V8 console shift automatic. Too far from me or I would make an offer.

Speaking of cars being too far -- If someone wants a car in my region we can workout a deal for inspection and storage. I know how much it sucks having a car sold out from under you just because of logistics, mainly distance.

Doesn't matter the make/model. I buy/sell all types.
