Thanks Alvin. The wheels on the NSX are Enkei's. Not much done on the Gold Car the last few days. Dave did get the spacers for the rear AC bracket turned on his metal lathe and made an oil pump primer out of an old distributor I had. Tomorrow we should get everything buttoned, add the oil and get it primed. Then the engine will take a little trip before getting installed...

One thing I didn't mention on the engine shots was that the Gold Car still had an original Delco Remy labeled coil cover. Although I installed a new distributor, I found a NOS Delco cap and reused the coil cover from the Gold Car. Also, though I couldn't find any correct date coded plug wires, MPD's buddy had a spool of 2Q82 8mm Belden wire I used to make the plug wires.

Yeah it seems like forever...No, I didn't buy any new cars, but I came close to buying a LB TA, but the price got higher than I think it should have and the car still didn't sell. I'll have to keep working on finding the right TA. I did get the cars rotated in the garage and the Hemi Cuda is now sitting by the door and ready to go. Took it for a little spin tonight and wow. That thing is a beast.

Ready for a burnout...Although I admit that this is the car I always think of selling so that I can squeeze something new in the garge a little more easily. Then I fire it up and it sounds like a Nascar engine and I drive it and change my mind. It's been easy to resist the temptation because the market dropped off on cars and Mopars, but both have rallied back and I think I am back above water. I'm in it at about ~$90k and on a good day and time slot at Mecum it would probably do a good bit better than that. It is probably one of the more accurate clones out there, lacking only multiple carbs and the resonators. Correct 833 tranny, rear end, torque boxes, hemi suspension, rim blow, guages, hartz top, console, et cetera.

I think the rad cap is right, but the radiator neck is clocked wrong and need to be removed and resoldered in the correct psoition. No donuts in this car, you can barely keep it pointed straight when it breaks loose on a burnout. There is no comparison between the suspension on a Mopar E-Body and Pontiac F-Body.

Yes, those are the repop looms. Pretty nice actually and I would recommend them. The only issue is that all the supplied looms are for 4 wires. Originally, two of the looms on the right side were only for 2 wires. Here's a picture from the service manual. Interestingly, the distributor pictures in the service manual are off 180 degrees and show the vacuum on the wrong side.

I was loitering in this section and saw The Gold Car...WOW!!..those looms look really nice and looking good!!...brings back memories of my 1976 that had those...definitely an H.E.I. thing...bummer about no 2 wire clips...(so close)...I ACTUALLY had saved them from the wreck and toyed with the idea of adding them to the H.O. (as it had H.E.I. when I got it)...but I must have tossed them in the 1976 parts purge..and went unitized...the detail looks great though Bob...nice work!!!

I know it's been a while, but are you sure you've got your distributor installed correctly? My recollection is the same as the manual. My looms when I found them packed away...

I'm pretty sure it is correct based on the orientation of the original distributor, and the one in the Black Car. It seems that if the vacuum is on the rights side, clocked 180'degrees different, it comes into interference with the heater hose and nipple on the right head. I would appreciate some verification from others with a running car.

Bob a quick visual of our Van Nuys built '78 W72 our distributor orientation is same as you have it installed and shown above...tach connection on passenger side w vac adv on drivers side. FWIW factory A/C car.
