Or the ultimate dog, the 260 olds diesel!

My buddy bought one new, think it was a GP, 81,82 maybe. That thing slowed up rolling down hills! Got amazing mpg though and his never gave him any trouble.

Not meaning to split hairs, however the 81 and 82 models were available with the Olds 5.7 (350) c.i. diesel. And yes, it was a dog. Thanks, I had completely forgotten about the diesel powered Pontiac!

I had a girlfriend with a Glacier Blue '77 Astre wagon, manual shift. I'd love to have it for a daily right now...in as-good condition that is.

We had one. Little maroon metallic job with the styled rally wheels and rear spoiler.

Dad ordered the California emissions package and stripped all the hardware off the engine.

We drilled holes in the fender inners so that you could change the spark plugs.

Just to keep the rare Pontiac H-body Pic's going how about a vintage shot of a 1975 Lil Wide Track? Supposedly they made 3000 of them, I would be surprised if they actually made 100. Tape Stripes, front and rear Spoilers, and window louvers, plus the wheels. I still have never seen one in person, but one turned up for sale around 10 years ago for around $20,000 ! Shortly after that one came up for sale I was sent the one vintage shot I have ever seen of one. 1st shot is the happy owner? Standing in front of her car, then 2 of the one for sale a few years ago, and the advertising for them. They had planned on other colors & wagons, but I have only seen pictures of these of 2 different Silver Hatch Backs.

How about the 1977 Pontiac Press Picture showing all 3 available Formula Models, Astre, Sunbird (coupe only in 77, the HB model would be available 78-80) and Firebird. I wish it was in Color. My best Guess for Colors are Astre - White, Sunbird - Silver, Firebird - Red.

That Kool! I bet it sounded like a Jet taking off at High RPM! I only heard a couple of them on the street in the 1970's. And the local Police usually didn't like them very much!

Could have been me but the engine I was building on the driveway was an old 331 Hemi.

Here's a work truck my family had back in 1984. It's main service during the day was to deliver flooring supplies for the family business. On the weekends and Friday Night test and tunes it was a hot rod.

My father ordered it as follows: 360 cu.in.4bbl. / 727 Auto /3:54 Sure Grip / Rallye Wheels and an AM/FM radio.

With some tuning and a slight converter it went 12.85 @ 105.5 mph. We had lots of fun with this Tradesman 250

Stock was decent at 15.'0's which was great at the time.

Not mine, but with all the recent talk about Astre's, I thought I would pass this along:

https://portland.craigslist.org/yam/...117470928.html

1976 Pontiac Astre.
Condition is typical for a 40+ year old car. Engine is worn and needs rebuilt. Does not run. $1200.00

This is the wrong thread for this, but I would love to retro fit that with a 2.8 V6 5-speed out of an 86-88 Camaro (if you could find one) and go cross country camping with it.

Yeah, to hell with rebuilding the factory engine.
