Disconnect the kickdown switch , and plug-off the modulator hose.
Try driving it by manually shifting it - and see if it's controllable. If so - Then reconnect one device at a time and see which one is flaring it. |

I think member stevep may have a handle on what's wrong. I'm thinking either modulator or governor, valve.

Cool race car.
But an 01D body date ,,, much much too early for original SD Status. It is a W66 Formula , at minimum. |

I took it from the ad blurb, that it was a 455 Formula with correct parts to run as 455 SD?
Need VIN pic to confirm either way? Also has the obligatory 1975 and newer dash bezel.

I can't remember it's (Y-code Test Car) build week.
Don't think it was THAT early was it ? Good counterpoint Bruce Fulper is selling it. I'm sure he would milk it dry if it had an invoice with SD uptick. Must be a Y-code car at minimum though, he says it was a 455 Formula in the Facebook listing when I googled Macho Poncho. I don't think it was a day 1 race car from out of the backdoor. Original paint color was dark brown metallic , no vinyl top. |

Ad says he only has a pair of ported SD heads , available separately.

IIRC, paint code #64 is Ascot Silver.

You are right , Silver.
When I googled it , said Burma Brown. I know better than to trust google hits , was lazy. |

Very nice original paint buccaneer red Super Duty and it’s a 73 four speed. This car was ordered brand new by a guy in St. Louis Missouri and then went to Hollywood California to The producer /writer of the Barney Miller show. Enjoy
