Of the 5781 posts on this thread, that Tempest may be the nicest car for the money on here. I would love that car for a daily driver. If it was within 4-5 hour drive, I would have to go look at it.

Fingerhut also sold a variety of other items, including clothing. For some reason my mother was on their mailing list, and they would regularly send out sales fliers for coats made out of some sort of vinyl; they'd include a sample of the vinyl with the flier, and I'd use the sample for upholstery in my AMT model cars.

growing up in that era, I think it was because there were things called "durable goods" back then. and like everything it was built to last. people didn't run out and change their furniture and flooring every few years back then. they were sold on these would keep them from ever wearing out. so I guess they all jumped and drank the kool aid for added protection.
