Your wife is probably right Greg in that I presume our local newspapers would have converted the US$ value into Aust$. Seeing we are running around $0.72 to the US$, your $7.5M will convert roughly to A$10M. And the final figure I quoted of A$1.3M will convert back (roughly) to US$1M.

Is the story really true??? Who knows but I sort of suspect it probably is.

I did find some news coverage of it just a little while ago. The only thing suspicious about it is that there is a connection to the TV show, 'Storage Wars'. Apparently the auctioneer on that show is the one who performed the auction, however, this incident is not apparently directly connected to the show.

The story reeks of BS from top to bottom, I'm quite sure it's fake as hell. Just more publicity for a "reality" TV show

Yes, some people can't leave well enough alone. In my mind the car is worth way less with the conversion, but someone else might drool over it. It looks great from the outside, though.

Maybe it's the only one that's powder blue with a painted white top that's equipped that way, lol.
That's a color that I'm not sure I've ever seen on a '64. one of those colors that looks great all buffed to a shine but is an eye sore when it dulls down.

It is pretty heavily optioned car but I agree there's no way to tell if it's the only one built that way. The color is unusual, it looks like Skyline Blue but I can't tell for sure; it's possible it was a special order color, which would make it very unusual.

Yep, but if you ask me, combinations of normal option packages and special order colors being used to say that a car is 1 of 1 is just stupid. If you're going to go by those metrics, an awful damn lot of classic cars could be considered "one of one", despite having no pedigree whatsoever.

Now, the '67 Shelby GT500 Super Snake is an example of a true one of one car where that pedigree actually matters, because it's a lot more than just a special color.

And again, I'm not knocking the car in any way, I'm just knocking people who try to claim their car is rarer than it is in ways that in fact don't matter.

The last time I saw that "Sky Blue" was on a 62 convertible GP. I good friend of mine I worked with back in 1970 owned it. Same colors all around inside and out but a convertible. Also bucket seats [driver side seat power] 389, automatic with console., and power windows. I'm not positive but I think it had 8 lug rims too. It was a very cool car.

Isn't '67 the only year for a GP convertible?

How many RA cars were delivered with a Tissue Dispenser, Ivy Gold interior and red exterior and deluxe wheel covers?

My guess is no more than zero

I can see a car being one of one if it was special ordered in an odd color but with no documentation someone could have just painted it that color. Who knows?
