Just weighed an old Holley SD; 18 lbs., a lot of metal in those intakes.

1964 Tri-Power - 46 pounds completely bare with no carb studs or water fitting. Probably one of the heaviest factory intakes.
Correct cast iron thermostat housing for 1964. It weighs in at 2.00 pounds. 1966 Tri-Power - 38 pounds. Correct cast iron Tri-Power thermostat housing for 1966. It's a lightweight at only 1.50 pounds. Same factory iron 1964 Tri-Power intake freshly bead blasted, shown here sitting on a postal scale weighing in at a little over 46 pounds. This helps me to confirm that the shipping scale at my work is accurate, at least in 1/2 pound increments. Surprised me to see that my 1966 Tri-Power intake weighed in at only 38 pounds, there's a lot of extra metal in the '61 -'64 Tri-Power intakes.

Some older iron.....
.....for those of us who like to tinker with the early Pontiac V8s.
1959 2-barrel intake - 38.5 pounds. 1959 Tri-Power intake - 39.45 pounds, surprisingly enough just one pound more than the 2-barrel intake. The cast iron 1959 Tri-Power thermostat housing weighs in at 2.85 pounds, a true heavyweight with the built-in engine lifting loop.

The Lightweight Champ.....
.....of all the factory iron Tri-Power intakes.
1965 Tri-Power weighing in at a scant 34.80 pounds, 36.20 pounds if including the 1.40 pound cast iron thermostat housing. The bare 1965 intake weighs nearly 12 pounds less than the previous year 1964 intake.

Very interesting weights - vastly different year to year.
Water pumps next?

I did not do a complete review of the intakes so this may be a second point for the Wenzler "early" aluminum Tunnel ram. 42 pounds. The Top plate is very heavy for the basic part vs say a Weiand piece.

My aluminum repro 66 Tripower from the Parts Place is 10 lbs bare. It has been ported,so don' know if that would make much difference.

Those intakes may not work the greatest, but they sure look cool!! Show up at a Cars and Coffee with one of those under the hood and your getting ALL the attention.
