I think your 4ga. positive cable is too small. step up to a Quality 1 ga. cable, not a welding cable.

I ended up with either 0ga or 2ga (can't remember) positive to the starter and to the alternator, with an additional ground from the battery to the starter and a 0ga from battery to the motor.

I also ended up with a mini starter and optima yellow top and now it cranks like a 250cc motorbike.
