Only one VIN in the Firebird line. But it can be any model in the Firebird line. There would not be the same digits in the Formula and in the TA. There would not be a 228870N110363 (TA) and a 226870N110363 (Formula). Sorry for any confusion if I read it wrong.

I thought of that after I shut off my computer last night - looked this morning, and found it. I think the related parties are likely already in touch with each other.

There is no style # included in the partial vin stamp.... 2 is Pontiac...0....is 1970...N is Norwood...followed by sequential SN.... and I believe that Firebirds were the only Pontiacs built in Norwood...at that time? |

I thought you were saying that a TA could have that 6 digits in VIN and a Formula could have that 6 digits in VIN. 2 plants in 70 - Van Nuys and Norwood There could be a Firebird with those 6 digits - 110363 but would have a 'L' before it. And the engine would have 20L110363

Congrats on finding the car owner!
Would you have the EUN on the engine?

I was 100% certain you knew the car for sure. It was pretty well discussed when it surfaced given its options. Pretty rare formula

Well, when I started this thread I really had not made up my mind on what I was going to do and had no idea what may happen. But now the question has been answered. I found the owner of the car right here. We've made a deal and once I get the motor out of my car it will go back to where it belongs. Pretty cool.

Even better news is that you can build your IA2 with a DCI Ram Air V top end

GM considers the last 8 characters of the VIN to uniquely identify a car, so style such as 2687 or 2887 does not matter. MY, plant and leading number matter. In the case of 70 Firebird there can be 4 VIN 0123s: 0N100123 0L100123 0N600123 0L600123 I know we dont talk about 6 cylinder cars much but they had unique VINs, and since they only made 2-3000 per year back then they are all low numbers. |

Motor
Ok let's say I had a ws engine had it rebuilt had front plate of block where stamped surface ground just enough to erase the stamp. Had it restamoed to.fit my car . Hey it would be number matching Vin and block . Ha I would not do that and there is a lot of people hear that would . I would keep the block as a back up hard to find period. You guys will never admit that but you guys are out there. Keep it man!

restamping, is only for the really sketchy side of the hobby.
I have said it before, and I am going to say it again, after number matching, numbers correct is the next best thing; The only way that it can get in between numbers matching and numbers correct, is if it's numbers correct AND date correct. Very few of these cars still have their original born-with drivetrain, so finding one with it, or reuniting one with the other is a pretty rare deal. I hope this works out to be something that is agreeable for both parties, because I'd be hard pressed to let got of a correct 1970 WS motor, for an original WS powered car. I put my YZ engine on that list; And even put out a "wanted" incase my car's original motor is out there.

Ia2
I'm the new guy what's a IA2 engine? Better than a ram.air 3. I wish I had a spare yz block. What's the true history value of a ws block? Anyone know. Keeping that in mind What's the value of knowing it's for your fricken car? Ha yeah some guys don't like that question. From a collectors point of view if it's not original to car it's not getting top dollar unless ls stock modified. If it's a hobby then who cars about the engine uniting with car. I've been looking at parts online for a while and start seeing people personalities and how they trat other people. My opinion is keep the block. Dude is blowing smoke up your ass. He told me he has a number matching formula heavily optioned. With a **** load of nos parts. A few months ago. Don't make sense to me. But hey it it works out cool. I'm just not trusting people these days alot. To many greedy people.
