Should have stuck with the Saturn...a Pacer looks much more like a Crapstang.

It looks like exactly what it is: A Holden Monaro with a Pontiac grill powered by a generic GM powerplant. Attempting similarities to the ugliest car ever produced nearly 3 decades prior by a now defunct manufacturer as a comparison validates your moniker.

I have an '04 GTO up here in the sticks in Wisconsin. Kids recognize the GTO immediately when they see it on the street. Lots of thumbs up and shouts of "light 'em up!!" I also have a '64 GTO and love it, but for a pleasurable drive anywhere, the '04 is usually the choice.

You people who hate the new GTO's remind me of those who hate our President!! At some point you made up your mind and won't change it. It would be nice if you'd all buy Mustangs and leave us Pontiac lovers alone!!

Hope you enjoy your GTO as much as I enjoy mine. What's in it, 400 or 455?

Thumbs up I am a Dealer, Here's what my customers want.

interior;
heated seats, better stereo, compass, onstar, xm radio, exterior temp display, easier access to rear seats, fold down rear seats, sunroof or t-tops.
exterior;
chrome wheels, chrome wheels, chrome wheels.
performance;
functioning ram air
As for looks of the car, I have driven many 04's and 05's and I get almost as many looks and thumbs up in the new GTO as in my 67.

The chrome / 20" wheels / bling / low profile tires / Tijuana Cheech n Chong thing on Musclecars is sooooo over. Thankfully.

That's a mighty fine-looking ride you've got there. Wanna race?

Why does everybody hate the new Mustang? I'm not a big Ford fan, but to me, it seems odd how some of the owners of the 2004-05 GTO take the opinions of others so personally, but are so quick to criticize the new Mustang. Aren't you doing the same thing? The new Mustang probably has a lot more in common with the new GTO than either of them have with their ancestry. That's not a criticism of either manufacturer, just an observation.

Think back to the late 1980s when you couldn't even buy a GM V-8 car with a 5-speed (Corvette excluded). One could argue that the 5.0 liter LX Mustang was the sole survivor of an era gone by. You could even order it w/out air conditioning and an optional gear ratio! Imagine that. Seems like a waste of time to compare apples (new GTO) to oranges (Orbit Orange ’70 Judge). Buy the new GTO because you like it. Who care what anyone else thinks? If you like the new Mustang, buy that instead. If you like the WRX, buy that. Is everyone out there that desperate for acceptance? Funny how we as a country pretend to value individualism, as long as it doesn’t deviate from what everyone else does.

Hey, I agree. I don't think a Mustang is a " Crapstang" ( there were plenty of Mustangs built from the factory in the Musclecar hay-day that could smoke a GTO ) or a Charger is a "Slowpar" ( same as prior ). I think the new Mustang is cool, the Charger, although a disappointment as a new Charger , is one of the baddest cars available as a 4 door sedan, the Nissan Z car is in a class by itself, etc, etc, etc. Personally I don't get the Mustang -GTO rivalry. The GTO was concieved as a "Musclecar", as was the Chevelle SS..very similar. The Mustang and Camaro were both tagged as "Ponycars"...very similar. And the big Hemi Mopars as " Supercars". I luv 'em all except the Monaro. I don't "hate" it, just the half-assed attempt GM did as trying to pass it off as a legitamate GTO. Personally, the car in and of itself is a righteous ride.

Have you sat in a new Crapstang? Seems crappy to me. As for the Charger, 1 of, but near as bad as a CTS-V! I like the Z. I agree on the Pony vs Muscle, makes no sense. I's say it is GM's 7/8-assed attempt that worked ok for a small group that could have been widened easily with the 05 mods up front in 04.
