Took the driveshaft down to bare metal, then painted it. I still have to reproduce the factory markings on it.
I still may replace the fuel and brake lines, but I started cleaning them up with a wire wheel, and a coat of clear. My original faded 73 front mat, with the repro 73+ mat that some of the vendors are selling. Some of the original interior plastics with a fresh coat of red Still waiting for the body shop to let me bring the shell to them

Few more parts restored
I was able to bring back the bezel luster with fine steel wool. Other than the lenses, I reused all other original parts, including the gaskets (which I put a coat of aerosol Plastidip) |

Interesting. You're kick down switch has the same resister soldered on the outside as mine does. I've seen many switches without that. Does anyone know the significants of that?

The resister mounted switch was the switch used primarily for the 72 T/As as it served the purpose of triggering the shaker solenoids. Even if you had a four speed car, you still got the resistor kick down switch mounted on the gas pedal bracket. I think the reason for the extra resistor was to somehow alter the voltage going to the solenoids. When was your car built? Pontiac dumped the working shaker option for 1973 and gave a $ credit back on T/A window stickers, but I guess they still used the same dual purpose kickdown switch.

Curious about the interior parts. Did you spray them with a gun or rattle can? I assumed you used vinyl dye. What brand? Thanks...

I used a gun with paint mixed for me by my local body shop supply house on thehard parts. I am using rattle can dye on the flexible parts since my supplier said they couldnt make it. I found that 73 Corvette uses the same interior color code and purchased it from one of the vendors.
The original rear lower side panels are badly sun damaged and have since bought another nice set. You can see in the picture that the color looks lighter in that area. |

I finished up most of the trunk area over the weekend, which entailed the lights, side markers, rear panel, GM weatherstrip, trunk filler and lid. The trunk lid side of the latch has gone missing so I cant adjust that just yet. I also cleaned the tail light harness and removed the dried out tape and replaced it with new harness tape from Caspers Electronics before installing it.
Up front, I sanded, masked and painted the dash and firewall. All 4 wheels are also painted, so I ordered the Wide Ovals this morning

Hotrod:
You're doing a nice job on this car. I love these threads. So much to learn from others ways of doing things. Looking forward to seeing more of this.

While waiting for the body shop on the shell, Ive been restoring some things here and there.
Thanks Norwood I want to duplicate the paint markings on the rear end, I have some reference pictures saved to help duplicate them. I do have a couple questions...is there a quality, correct, assembly line decal kit? Ive seen them at a few vendors, but want to be sure to get the right one. Also, for the paint markings, I assume just get a brush and various colored paints to do this? The subframe and A-arms are out for powder coating. Hopefully back this week so I can assemble it
