Overhead cam is interesting and a great topic. Lots and Lots of details to resolve on those. Wrapping my feeble mind around this pushrod deal has been hard enough. :-)
J.C.you Since the port is over 2.3" wide at the pushrod bulge, the rocker offset would have to be over 1.1" to effectively move it out of the port; and pushrod angle would get crazy. Lots of surgery and one off parts for what appear to be minimal gain at least from this seat. |

Exhaust port mold reveals a very efficient looking port with a generous short turn radius.
The pics with two molds show a comparison with as cast Edelbrock exhaust port. The exhaust port volume is 225ccs. Jim |

We are still doing QC on these heads and are incorporating some production measures. I thank Tom S and Jim R for their valuable contribution. If anyone wants to look at the real plugs for the intake and exhaust ports we use for making the sand cores.....go to facebook.com and type my name Lynn McCarty. Lots of pictures there.
One thing that perplexes me greatly.....if someone is so upset about the pushrod in the center of the intake port then why arent the building foils for the valve stems? They stick in the center of the intake port and no one builds foils for them? Secondly, we have found that a 9/16 OD tube is about a 8 cfm penalty. A 9/16 tube may not be necessary if you install it precisionally when doing your valve train. A smaller tube like 1/2 OD is likely usable. We figure that when an engine builder is "massaging" a head we would like him to do the installation with some precision and put the smallest tube in there. Also, we are using 9/16 OD brass tubes that can be metal formed due to the softer material. I am sure some master craftsmen can improve flow to this as well. If we put the push rod to the side like other heads, what is the difference? I maintain that running too small of a intake port is way worse than the push-rod in the center cause that is what invarbiably happens. Ford spent years of research on the project and decided this was the design till the Chevrolet guys were hired. Tony loves that straight port! Tony knows how to make power. I will be watching him do it at the Hot Rodding Engine Master's challenge next week. Wesly Roberson called and invited me today. What a great guy! (thanks JC) Lynn

I had 4 sets of castings made somewhere around 5-7 years ago for real cheap at the local high school. I only needed one set for my heads but had 4 sets made because they were not a high end foundry & knew I would have to work on them to get the finish just right. Turns out all for sets where usable. Two sets just needed polishing. One set had a few blemishes that where easily fillable & the last set needed the most filling but would still be easy. I kept one good set for my 44's & sold the rest to Tom on two separate occasions.
Which meant everything came full circle since Tom loaned me one of his originals to copy. All in all the ones I had made was about 3-4 times heavier than Toms (still less than a pound) since mine were solid aluminum & his was a hollow extrusion. The hardest part was done at a machine shop that drilled the holes in the correct position. I also had checked into having them made like the originals where which was an extrusion. I was told I needed to purchase either 500' or 1500' long ( don't remember which CRS)extrusions for them to make it using Toms as a pattern. Since they are only about 2" tall 500'-1500' was clearly 100's of sets more than the heads ever made. I still have one of the ones I had made & gave one to a friend the other day. Maybe it will make a good key chain or something |

Chambers as cast with roughed in seats measure 74.2ccs. Once final seat work and smoothing/blending we could end up with a .5 - 1.5ccs more.
OD of seats are 2.330" and 1.980." |

Dude, we are doing an engine with hydraulic roller lifters! I would have never thought! Tony says he has some engines with them going very high RPM.

We are waiting in line at the foundry for the intakes should be soon. I have the tunnel rams available but need at least 5 orders to do a pouring. My website guy is slow probably cause I havent thrown a lot of money at it. I will do things as sales and subsequent remuneration allows.
