Got my premier issue yesterday; really bad excuse for an 'enthusiast' magazine. I had my gripes with PE and HPP from time to time but they are lookin' pretty good about now. Like others have said, they were pushing for renewals way in advance so I paid another year just to find out that they were going out of business. On well, live and learn.

Just got my auto enthusiast (catalog) and called to express my views about the POS that they sent me and talked to Suzette in customer service, she assured me that many people like the new rag. I told her she needs to go on Peformance Years and read the threads and see how many people share my feelings. I also told her that they just followed GMs lead of putting Pontiac in the toilet. I said I'd never buy another rag from amos and andy publishing.

It isn't just PY folks that are unhappy. There are a number of threads about getting shafted by Amos Publishing on other sites I visit, including Chevy, Pontiac, Ford, and Mopar. No one is happy about this, except for the guy Amos Publishing that concocted this scheme. He probably got a bonus for signing up a record number of subscribers in a 2 month period.

Reminds me of how a business offers discounted gift cards, such as a $50 gift card for $45, and people come running. Sure enough, it's because the business is going OUT of business, your gift card will be worthless. But they screwed the American public one last time to the tune of several hundred thousand dollars, then these people move on to another company, and on their resume, they state "Headed a project to create $2 million in profits in 2 months."

Like I said CASH OUT NOW! Dont just complain, get your money back any way possible, even if you dont want the dang merchandise...eBay it.
Order some PE back issues and trade them, sell them or what ever, but please dont just take this turd because they said we have to!

I'll be supprised if the Rag is arround in 6 months, how could you get ANY subscribers to that mag unless they were "transfered" to it? Even that horrible Barry Maguire show on TV was better than this.

I figured out what it really is, Its a corvette & Mustang owners acessories catalog with "some" info on other make cars so they can talk like a "real car guy" arround the water cooler at work. PUKE!

The only time I plan on seeing this mag again (if it does last) is at my local garage while I'm waiting for the state inspection to be done.

I wont even give it a second chance even if it was 100% pontiac again (LOL yeah right!) , its the principal of how badly it was handeled to me at this point.

Works for me, like AMOS was doing me a favor by sending me the replacement mag when they didn't have ther "stones" to tell me ahead of time they where pull the Pontiac magazine. I already get Hemmings Muscle Machine, I don't need two copies.

Many publishers have gone out of business in the last five years. Some that remain are hanging on by a thread. Ever notice how thin some magazines & newspapers are these days ?

It's really a sad thing. I'd bet that Amos did this change in an attempt to remain viable and to keep their staff employed.

I have not seen the new magazine but I do understand that many people do not like the new editorial content.

I don't see how a campaign to contact their advertisers to express dissatisfaction is going to change anything, what's the point ?

The magazine is just too busy and over-produced. Too many ads and absolutely no "flow" in it's layout.

Was going to start my own thread on this when I got the magazine yesterday. I will miss PE and will not be renewing my subsription to this Corvette/Chevy/Mopar/ late model Mustang magazine. If I wanted to read about these, there are plenty of other magazines for these already on the shelves.The pre 72 classics section is a joke as well. Although I own a 66 I enjoyed reading about the later model Pontiacs as well. Hemmings Muscle Machines is a much better magazine for its content and even coverage of all kinds of Detroit iron. This reminds me of how GM themselves did away with Pontiac (and earlier on Oldsmobile) and then tries to ram Chevy and Buick down our necks. Amos publishing evidently wants to ram Corvettes and Camaros down ours. What happened to Jiw Wangers commentaries-nothing here to comment on I guess. Advertisments everywhere, and the article on the 66 reminds me of a Car and Driver "short take" type of review. Being they "combined" all these magazines into one, they should have given somewhat equal coverage to all the type of cars in the previous magazines. I guess if the power goes out in the winter these will give me something to use to help start a fire with in the fireplace.

Would be nice, but would probably fall on deaf ears and wind up in the round file. Let the late model enthusiast have this magazine. I think I will go with Rack776 s idea and call them to get an exchange on something-thanks for the tip by the way. They did this because of financial woes. Thats what all the advertisers are for. But if the ad people dont see a significant return on their investments in a short time, they will drop off as well.Without many subsriptions left, people cashing out, and no ads, they will falter. I beleive the Mopar crowd got screwed on this as well (surprised they even gave them their own little section).

Not a boycott, but just let the advertisers know of your plans. Do you think a company wants to advertise in a magazine nobody's reading. Otherwise, they'll be just hearing what Amos is telling them. More dollars spent on advertising means less chance of a sale/discount on the parts you're purchasing. Spending money on a different item at Amos with a larger profit margin means they win twofold.

Any magazine that will not send a refund and issues a "credit only" response definately means they are cash strapped already.

Writing to all ther advertisers in that mag would be like calling everyone in the phone book to tell them you are mad at the phone co. Too many ads to contact LOL!
The parts suppliers are going to spend money to advertise regardless of Auto Enthusiast being arround or not. It will just be elsewhere.
Just because they lower the advertising budget does not mean the parts prices will also be lowered.

Let the late model guys have it, I think Hemmings Musscle Machines is way better for that type of mixed content, and I do pick it it up from time to time, but if they start to run 2,000 pages of ads, I drop that as well.

In 6 months to a year It will be interesting to see how many people are bitching about the magazine just ending with no refund or credit available to them.

CASH OUT NOW! & Try to get something of the same value as what you payed for. I got a book that sells for $20 on amazon.com for $5.00 out of them, I think they are selling off all the merchandise at a discounted rate to stay above water.

I dont see how getting something better that what they wanted to push on me instead of what I payed for can help their profit margin?

They could run 100% CPontiac coverage for the rest of time and I still would not subscribe.
I'm done with scumbag business owners screwing over the consumer. Most American businesses have no morals or ethics anymore.
I stayed away from Maple Grove Drag Strip for almost 5 years because I got hosed there. New manager now and I'm glad to have given them another chance.
