Neat car... Have you done anything with the interior?

Just getting a plan together....

Looks like we are going to make a "close to original" copy of front and rear seat covers...

Just got a set of correct repro trim rings from our host....need to detail the wheels before I install them...

Count on spending at least 2k plus for the materials and for a good upholsterer to stitch it up. But they usually need to see some semblance of original to get proper measurements from. At least that I what my guy said. SMS has the proper materials and correct center embossed strips. They have it all for my 61 Bonny wagon but the cost scared me off.

I purchased all my materials from SMS for my 60 Ventura and they also made my door panels. I had heard the horror stories about SMS but had no other choice and being they are only about 2-1/2 hour drive away I figured I would give them a shot. I did speak with the owner as to a time line prior to purchase of the panels, he guaranteed me a date and he followed through so I was happy.

Door panels for my 61 wagon were 800 + over and above the seat material. Just cant justify. Maybe someday. Nothing better looking than a tri color interior.

Your seats and panels look great.

My experience with SMS is that if you're just buying the raw vinyl by the yard they have a fairly quick turnaround. It did take them quite a while to get my door panels done, though.

Guess I should consider myself lucky that my door panels are really decent.....except for the cut pile carpet on the bottoms....to match the replacement carpet that was prolly put in when the fuzzy seat covers were done.

I'm guessing we need a loop style carpet....with a black fleck?

I don't know what black fleck is, but the OE carpeting is loop, like the floor carpeting (not cut-pile).

The carpeting on the bottom of the door panels is the same as the floor carpeting, just regular loop style. If you buy a replacement carpet from any of the suppliers they should be able to provide some extra that you can have a local upholstery shop put on the door panels.

I'm pretty sure they all get their repro carpets from ACC.

My experience was pretty much the same, materials would show up in about 3-days after ordering as I am so close. I originally was going to try and repair my door panels but found that to be impossible so I contacted SMS and spoke to Kim. She told me 18 months for the door panels, I replied that was out of the question I need to have this project done in June. She then put me on hold and put me in contact with the owner who assured me he could have the panels done the end of May or the first of June. This was the end of February and my door panels showed up the first week in June.

That's about the same experience I had with them, materials came real quick, door panels in about 3 months. Trouble was they didn't fit when they got here. I had to pay the upholstery shop to correct them. This was on a 62 Cat., I had a friend have the same issue with 61 door panels.

My 59 Impala has the original carpet in it....as does my 64 Custom Sport and they BOTH appear to have a black fleck...or grain/shadow...in the red carpet....

Thought 61 Bonneville might have had something similar?

Didn't the 59's have a gold fleck twisted in to the loop?

Nope, '61 Bonnevilles just had solid color loop carpet.

I've heard of him.....been around for many years.....and almost in the neighborhood......thanks for posting...

The factory finish on brake booster was semi- gloss black in 61,I'm guessing?
