That's what I thought, too. On closer inspection - this is likely during the manufacturing process - it isn't installed yet.

Yes it is indeed a crankshaft, for a 109,000 HP, 14 cylinder diesel marine engine.
It rotates at a whopping 102 RPM.

i always wondered how they can arrive at an HP# if it doesn't rotate at 5252rpm. Isn't that part of the formula?

HP = (Torque x RPM) / 5252

5252 is a constant and is the rounded value of (33,000 ft·lbf/min)/(2π rad/rev),
which is part of Watt's original equation.

Or at least, that's what Google says.
