Default John's 69 RAIII GTO

Summer of 1987 a friend of mine bought a 1969 RAIII GTO from a lady who had bought it new. This is a picture of John his senior year, in high school.

John had just graduated and bought the car with a bad engine. He had looked at a few other GTO's but chose this one cause he thought it would be the fastest. $800 was the buy in.
John had the block checked out and it was cracked bad in the lifter Valley and between two freeze plugs, needless to say, original block is long gone. With the supervision of one of his dad's friends, John rebuilt a 400 and put the biggest cam Crane had available for a Pontiac at the time (believe it was Crane). One night while driving with that engine John was spinning that sucker so hard he broke the crank at the balancer! You certainly don't hear of that to often in a Pontiac.
