I have a friend who is really in VWs. Told me they made some Bugs or "Things" with magnesium body parts just after the war in Germany. Would catch fire in crashes where the body ground against pavement. What would be worse than that.
We have a LOT of chainsaws around these parts. Firemen I know tell me when they come onto a house and garage fully ablaze that can tell where any chainsaws were. Lots of them have Mag cases. And when they burn, they burn white hot and you can not put them out. Spraying water on them could cause them to shatter, burst apart and spread white hot metal all over. Kind of scary. Keep that stuff away from race cars. I bought my Warrior from the Hunt Bros. Old black and white full page add in High Performance Pontiac. Think it was around 275-300$. Wish I had bought a 2x4 bathtub copy too. They were around 450$ I think. |

Porsche did aluminum block engines too. Those suckers would burn down like crazy lol.
Firefighters do have special chemicals just for metal fires.
