My rear bumper? Well, that was near the end of my restoration at the time (money was getting tight) so I let Bumper Boyz plate that. Horrible. Chrome flaking off within a year and you can see copper colored spots throughout. That and they welded in a patch on the driver side that can be seen clear-as-day.
You get what you pay for.

On another note: My tail bezels on my '67 Lemans have light pitting and everyone wants an arm & leg to replate (not many outfits replate pot metal). I contacted Sandy Bumper Mart out of Syracuse, NY and they quoted me $180/ side. I thought their pricing was MORE than fair. Anyone use these guys?

Yes, I have used them (Sandys) before and I was very happy with their work. I had a rear bumper and bumper guards on my '56 straight axel gasser wagon, rechromed by them. This was 6-8 years ago and it still looks good. I have a friend who had some rechroming done on his 442, by them. He wasn't happy about it and sent the piece back. No questions asked. They stood by their work and fixed it. Made him a happy camper. Actually, I didn't see anything wrong with it. But, it wasn't mine either. I always thought their prices were fair. I don't mean to hijack this thread, but speaking of rechroming bumpers, does anyone know the difference between "show" chrome and "street" chrome plating? I assume show chrome is a nicer finish, but for someone on a budget, is "show" chrome worth it? Is there really a difference to the naked eye? What is the typical difference in cost between the two? Thank you.

I think the show chrome gets three good layers plated on and polished in between layers. Copper then nickel then chrome. Street chroming may leave out some layers and do less polishing.

Sorry. I don't know myself, but I have heard those terms before. When I had my bumper done at Sandy's, I don't recall being offered a choice. Whatever they did, I was very happy with it, Carmine.

ALL chrome plating is copper/nickel/chromium. "Show chrome" is simply a more detailed polishing between each layer and a double plating of chromium.
