I am not a racer but am stunned to see that this kind of power can be made with a Pontiac! I was happy just making 530 HP! I gotta get to see some of your Pontiacs run down the track!

The VW people did a 1.4 "TSI Supercharger/Turbocharger" set-up for one of their cars some years ago that used a Supercharger for low speed response (then the supercharger was disengaged) and the turbo had enough mass flow from the engine to drive the turbo from that point on for the real HP. Made the power of a 2.3L engine easily and 30% better F.E. If you really want to see the next wave in Boosting forget the clutch supercharger stuff, people are playing with electric driven compressors to boost up the engines bottom end performance. Tom V. ps That being said, this thread is about 1000 hp @ 7000 rpm engines.

Thanks Tom, the VW stuff is interesting. Wonder if some sort of coupler could be made that was small diameter and not even electrically operated. One where you would have to stop the engine and turn some bolts/push pins.
George, most of your posts bring threads down. Show what a "non thinker" you really are. Who cares about the useless B&M blower running 100K. The idea I am putting forth is simply one step up from the guys who drive their centrifugal super chargers around without the belt, for economy, or whatever reason the owner chooses. Then being able to "flick a switch" or manually turn their blower on. Best of both worlds sort of thing. If one does not think or imagine things that have never been done before this world would be in sad shape. |

Thats because its a puny nothing blower of little use to a big Pontiac. I am talking a BIG centrifugal. Roots are thing of the past in many race situations where they used to dominate. Old school, lot of drag. Technology is passing them by.

Dragncar, Ever heard of a guy named, Norm Drazy, The PSI Supercharger Brain/Originator? Same guy whose superchargers were banned in Pro Mod as being 'Too Good".
Norm came to see me one time in Dearborn, Michigan. He had this Pro Mod Supercharger strapped on a two wheel cart and ran it up to elevator to my office. This was years ago when he was banned everywhere. So he figured that if he could sell Ford on purchasing a smaller version vs the Eaton "baby" supercharger he could make some money and help Ford out at the same time. Dragncar, George's little baby 177 supercharger (believe you called it a "puny nothing blower", sounds about right by the way, is a correct comment. Even George's and Jim's 8-71 superchargers are "nothing" (your words) compared to the stuff Norm was trying to sell to racers at the time. Norm made a video of his PSI blower vs a 14-71 blower years ago. http://www.dragzine.com/news/vintage...-supercharger/ From the article "an alcohol engine running the PSI blower (385ci displacement) made 1,260 horsepower at 28 pounds of boost — the same as a 14-71 blower (552ci displacement) running at 36 psi. The difference was lower manifold air temperature (85 vs. 150 degrees) and less parasitic drag on the engine." So take anything George posts about superchargers with a grain of salt. Not sure if Norm Drazy is still out there, heard he walked away for a while and was spending time with his wife. Just be nice to George, He is a Bracket Racer. Tom V. Art Whipple has made a nice income selling his version of a screw supercharger to the Brand X Guys for their stangs.

That's a very impressive pick up. Did the engine make over the 1029HP or was that the peak? Was that with the Edelbrock carbs? Calvin Hill Hill Performance 708-250-7420 |
