Here’s another one I’m gonna pull out of my hat: ‘Some people live for work. Some people work to live’.

Hopefully I'll be able to retire at all lol These kind of milestones were pulled out from under my generation's feet.

Retirement for me will be when I’m laying in the box.

I’ll be retiring April 1st from the IBEW also with a good pension after 40 years on the job. I’ll miss the guys I’ve worked with over the years but not the daily stresses. I’m sure I will find plenty to do. I decided it was time after seeing guys wait to retire only to kick the bucket within a year. I want to be in good health to be able to enjoy retirement as long as possible. Losing my brother at age 45 last year really brought a lot of weight to my decision. You never know when you last day on earth will be.

I retired from law enforcement in December of 2023 after 31 years “on the job.” Now working public safety at a college and will stay another 4 years at 60 YOA or until I don’t feel like it anymore. I only took about a 2 month break so certainly not enough to feel retired but what I did learn about myself is I am better with a schedule - seems I get more done when I’m “up against the clock”
