looks incredible! Not only did it do a number on the acid rain spots but notice the reflection of the florescent lights in pic 2 and 3 compared to pics 4 and 5. Like night and day!

If this is an original paint car, Lacquer will remelt into itself, but looking at the pix it dosent look like lacquer to me. But either way an improvement can be made . Dab black lacquer into the gauges, build it up, block it level and buff....It will look good as new.

I'm sure you mean gouges, not gauges.

The car was repainted back in the early 1980s when it was "restored" by the second owner. It may be hardened enamel.

I have probably said it earlier (I've been following this thread for a while);

Wow, simply wow!

Yeah, I'm not sure what type of paint it has on it since Neil Diamond painted it in 1985, and I am not sure how to tell. Based on earlier comments I have been thinking it was single stage enamel. Whatever it is, it is really looking good. Of course if I ever get it out of the garage it might not look so good. The radio guy says he has shipped my unit so hopefully by the weekend after Memorial Day I will have it once again unleashed on the roads of West Virginia.

Well, there is no lacquer checking so it has to be a single stage enamel given the decade it was painted in. (And no clear coat either).

Looks great!

Glenn - welcome back. You behave yourself this time. Sorry I can't help with pictures for a while. I am on a plane now heading for a week long business trip.

BTW - thanks for the care package. Some really cool stuff there. I owe you one or two.

I'm back in the saddle after a short trip, a long weekend, and a near miss on a new addition. While I was gone the radio arrived at last. It took 150% longer to get it back than the original quote, but it looks great. Hopefully this will be the weekend that the interior gets reinstalled and the car is on the road once again. I've still got some wet sanding and polishing left to do, but tonight I got the left rear fender wet sanded. Hopefully I can get it polished tomorrow, and that will just leave the right fender and roof. I can't wait....here's some pictures.

Wow, car and radio looks really good. I wonder why he didn't have the yellow wire come out in front under the silver tape like it originally did. But boy looks like all new hardware or re-plated at least.

um... where's the dial indicator?

iirc you can't ever turn them so far that it goes out of range - it should always be visable.

Good point. I didn't think they disappeared either. Not willing to try it on mine.

Unruhjonny - good eye, you had me scared there for a moment or two. I was picturing another 5 plus week delay. Turns out the indicator was turned past the point of being visible.
