Saw the heads and intake over the weekend. Definitely impressive!! But I would like to see someone do an all out race application using that intake before I would drop coin on it. Just looking at it my only issue is the amount of plenum volume and lack of runner length. I think it would be great for a blower/turbo/boosted application. Don, I know you just received the casting but did you have some sort of airflow simulation done with the intake design before you cast it? I know you were trying to cater to everyone to get it to fit under a stock hood.

The pieces of the puzzle that everyone did not see were the bottom plate that goes inside the plenum and the top plate. Once you see them you will understand why the plenum is the way that it is. As soon as I get one mocked up I will post a picture, but don't worry I do have a plan. The intake is designed more for the street or blower crowd than it is for all out race. For all out race or even a bracket car I would suggest you build a sheet metal intake, and we are working on that as well.

This is Don counting the dough for the set of Ram Air V Heads that I purchased while at Norwalk. The (2) sets of heads, mine and Don from Saginaw, are being shipped down to TEXAS and Mr. Jim Robertson will be tuning them up for each of our unique engine builds. That's what so great about DCI's Ram Air V Heads, they can go on a stock type build or a Big Inch Blower engine like my friend Don from Saginaw.

Damn!! I was there with 2 buddies talking about heads and intakes and speaking with Don's body guy about the heads. Hey Don, your body guy knows nothing about your heads Hahahahahaha. Cool guys though. I saw the fat stacks come out and i was like "this is the wrong party for this Canuck!" LOL Nice looking equipment! especially up close.

I can't wait for Jim Robertson to give a little love to my heads. Jim knows a little about air flow I think LOL. I have guy's from one extreme to the other with their builds. We got a 1471 blower deal in the works and a normally aspirated pump gas on the other end. We also have a couple of nitrous builds it looks like and quite a few twin turbo builds. I have one guy that wants to build a centrifucal gear driven set up for Top Sportsmen. I really hope all these guys can get their projects completed for next years Norwalk race. I forgot to mention the silver gasket looking pieces are templates for gaskets. I made these up to send to the gasket company so they get all the holes in the right places LOL.

Don, they look great!, I am guessing your intake can use a dominator also
Do you have any dyno numbers on these heads yet out of the box on a engine? What kind of duration and comp would u rec with these? I want to run pump gas yet .

... a copy of this one could possibly be acquired in a class race 4 bl application with Don's heads. It has been proven to make power well beyond the original 1220hp dyno mark with Lynn's V heads.
Don, I hope your endeavor does well and see some big hp numbers with your V's.

John your 65 will look bad a$$ with a set of DCI 5's on it, and who knows. It might run 4.90's in the 1/8th!!! JC, Do you know what size the port openings are? With all of the mods you guys done to your heads. I'm wondering how close the intake would be. Darby, Yes you can definitely use a dominator on my intake. Cam duration will be determined by the application (street, street & strip, or race). I think that you will definitely be able to run 11.5-1 on pump gas which would be more than enough for a street car. If you wanted to make sure it won't rattle. I would knock it down to 10.5-1. I do not currently have any running yet, but I am getting closer. It's that pesky 24 hour a day thing that keeps getting in the way LOL. Thanks Don, I would probably go 11.1, I am at 10.7 now with my KRE SD290 heads. I would like to run low 10-maybe a high 9 on pump gas and still drive it like i do now and not split the block
Tall order? I'm really only 3-4 tenths from my goal now with alot less head flow.

Well I wish I could give you some dyno numbers, but right now anything I would post is purely conjecture. So for now all we can do is calculator race LOL. I am working real hard at getting my engine together though. So hopefully in the next couple of months I will have a good idea if the calculator is right or not LOL.

Don I know the Pontiac Community is excited about what you are bringing to the market. I think you may have to show some of us a photo of say your new intake sitting on your New Ram Air V Heads. If one of the photos were one with a 14/71 BLOWER on top wouldn't be bad either. I personally would like to see a dominator or large throttle body sitting on top of it. Food for thought and for our eyes!!

Hey Don, I was in your tent Friday looking at the hardware- who was the guy that came up and started talking about working at GM, about how the RA V head came about- and his dad was a casting engineer or something. He had some good stories. Sorry for going off topic .

Yes Dimitrie Toth. Very informing and interesting conversation. He stated that his dad was the one who made the original ram air 5 tooling for PMD. He also confirmed that it was a direct copy of the Ford tunnel port head. I don't know if you heard the comment about them setting the Ford head on a Pontiac block, and 8 out of the 10 bolt holes lined up. Dimitrie also said he seen allot of pieces like the exhaust manifolds and intakes for the 5's. He confirmed what I was told by another source too. That the first engine PMD built with the ram air 5 heads was a 428 with single and dual quads. I could have listened to him all day. He was supposed to come back with George Delorean on Saturday, but it rained and I did not get a chance to talk with him. Really cool talking with him!!!!
